World of Warcraft: Open Beta Review
« on: November 18, 2004, 01:11:53 AM »
it mad, it bad, it rad, etc....

This is where I rant about online exploits in World of Warcraft.

Firstly, big thanks to meh padners rampage and shizz that donated two accounts to this worthy sweat cause.

My character is in Realm 30.
Name: xbaego
Race: Human Paladin (what else, lol)

Kenshin and I jumped into the fray.

The game stated off ho-hum, with painfully easy missions and monotonous action but soon it's brilliance began to shine.

Not graphically. The game is still way behined guild wars in terms of it's 3d engine but, like neon says, it's not about the graphics.

Attention to detail. That is where blizzard scored with this one. Now don't get me wrong. Walking through the huge mc castle and seeing the level 62 characters on horseback is impressive. Watching a guy fly by on a griffin, the water rippling and spells casting, all nicely done. Just that it isn't on a Doom 3 / Half Life 2 level by a long shot.

The detail I am talking about are all the little things, like being able to jump, swim, walk almost anywhere, talk, sit, lie down, taunt and even dance. I not talkin a lil wiggle eh, serious macarena and disco 70's style dancin.

May sound trivial, but this really gives the game a polished feel.

After about a days play, the quests became more challenging and now most cannot be completed alone. You have to rounds up a few players to embark on them. Enemies begin to attack in groups, so if you're not in a group yourself they will make short work of you.

This plays out very well. Finding players to party with isn't difficult, since they are quite often in the same predicament as you. I'm at an advantage ofcourse since I got Kenshin right here in the same room with me. If I need a hand, I'll go grab his mouse and make him help me, lol.

At first, some were still easy enough quests that just a two man party, like crixx and I, were able to handle. Not anymore. 4 gnolls can make short work of a squad of two. I was rolling with a clip of no less than three badmen and a healer to take down those mofos earlier today.

The attacks and buffs (physical enhancement spells, charms, enchantments, etc..) are getting better and better. The enemies are fomidable looking and well deserving of your blade. At first, they seemed a bit tame, but that soon changed. Swam across a shallow brook and came across some level 29 beasts. Lixxxxxxx immc. Swam right back.

The game is a little laggy but not bad most of the time. It is a real pain when lag causes your healing to register a moment to late and is death iymc.

That brings me to the grave yard. Die and you find yourself there as a ghost with this ominous angel over you. She can resurrect you but at a serious cost. Life ain't cheap. The alternative, make like a poltergeist and run back to your fallen body. The game takes on an eerie shade of grey as a ghost, sort of like when Frodo where's the one ring. No one can see you, well cept for other ghosts. Once within short range of your body, you can be resurrected with no penalty at the click of a button. Be wary that your killers aren't still lurking about as you won't spawn with full health, nor with buffs.

All in all, it has been and continues to be a great time. Kenshin is havin a blast and he is doing his home work all the faster and with more zeal to get his "permission slip" from mom to sweat some WoW.

The adventure continues

i hate blizzard

i hate themm sooooo much

because...
i love this game to death!
and the beta ends today!

AS I REACH LEVEL 11 AND CAN NOW LEARN 5 NEW SPELLS!

IN ADDITION TO THE 7 I ALREADY HAVE!
PLUS I NOW LEARN MY CHARACTER ASSASIN TALENTS ANDDD MY ENGINEERING AND ALCHEMIST TALENTS.

i just got to some serriousslyyy over bad missions once i hit level eleven and the drops i gettin from dese mad new creatures reall baddd.

blizzard did an update last nite and included a dragon raid mission for higher level players,BUT THE DAMN BETA ENDING TODAY!! AHHHH

alyuh doh understand howwww dread this game getz as yu go along.
The quests yu get assigned and the new skillz, weapons, race talents, proffesion talents plus jobs like engineering and alchemy, omg.

This game has everything.!!!!

last nite was de worst, i was caught between watchin smallville and makin reallll noise in ghost head bragging bout how bad WoW is compared to lineage, (which he was sweatin on my lame dell  laptop, pushing a 1.1 ghz p3. 256 megs of SDram and most impressively , a geforce 2 go bawwwww, runnin lineage normal).

I feelin to duck work lunchtime to get in the last few hours of WoW to enjoy my new level 11 talents.

Riddin hippograph and griffins normal normal.

alyuh doh understand howw wbadddddddd it is one yu start gettin all yur talents .

Talents are like spells and moves, unique to yhour race and class, that you get in addition to spells.
you get spells and moves from trainers, and you learn talents on yur own as yu level up.

First one comes at level 11

w00000tttt
