before digicel and at&t reached in barbados C&W was their monopoly

so C&W had to real have big offers so they wouldnt lose out to much

I hear there is another company with a Wi-Max network in Tdad , my brother used their internet access out on one of the oil rigs ... he says they are supposed to be offering services in Tdad from next year.
   Sattelite isn't that bad for gaming if you get a good service , the pings aren't any worse than what TSTT gives you on a bad day , I'v seen a T1 upload/download sattelite offerin pings of 150-200 for 1000 US, and 100 US a month .
    Wireless is the future ,  running wire is waste of money  , cause every month rasta men will tief it at midnight .

I'll switch. TSTT is giving me horid service. I've seen the GSM service suffering with my father's phone and my friends. I have thus far stuck with my trusty old TDMA...but even that is giving me hell now. Call and can't hear the other side...bawlin' hello? hello? hello? and they hearing me, I not hearing them. Try to call people and getting kick to their voicebox and later learning no, they weren't using their phone at the time. Try to call again and get call drop at random.

All this in addition to the fact that TSTT has treated us like dirt for too many years? I'm sorry, but I won't be sticking with TSTT when the competition reaches. I'm sure the new guys will have teething problems; that is to be expected. But if they show that they know what they are doing, and are trying to give a quality service for a good price, despite any initial hiccups...I'll support them.

TSTT will have to clean up its act when competition starts, but it's too late for that. Their name has been scarred and that's just how it is. Why should I stick to a company that has abused its position for all these years just because its a local company? I'll support T&T companies where I can, I'm a trini - but they have to show me why I should support them first. TSTT has not done this.


EDIT: On a side note, even if Digicel is going to be offering similar pricing to TSTT, expect plenty good offers to begin with. Free phones or giving them away for next to nothing. Slashed rates for the first year or two, things like that. They're a big company with big resources. They'll be looking to get their customer base on board first, even if it means they'll be sacrificing profits for the first year or two. Once they have that customer base and give them good service to keep them aboard, they'll be making all the money they want later down the line. Sometimes you have to take a few losses initially to make big profits in the long term. This is especially true when entering a new market where there is already an established provider.

that may be one of the best rumours ever, plus it is not like digicell is a poorly operated 3rd world telecommunications company like TSTT anway.

BUT

TSTT services WILL get alot better, reason being is that they are currently under much better management.

TSTT services ARE getting alot better,  DSL upgrade from 128 to 256 kb/s , GSM service is... a tiny bit better . The papers say TSTT is spending half a billion improving their service, they are running scared . but unless Digicel/AT&T/etc. rates are alot more expensive, i will switch over, just to spite the mcs who make me suffer my entire life with dialup and dead phone calls .

TSTT may end up providing decent service in a competition oriented environment, but they still have a sour taste in my mouth.

If I lived 21 years and know nothing but bad service from TSTT, why should I pick them when the competition comes, even if they do improve? It's not a matter of spite, it's a matter of "you gave me crap service for all these years, give me one good reason why I should continue to give you my money?"

no seriously!? when! i stuck with the effin 128 for way to long, i never even got an 'accidental' boost nutten, and even down to the modem tstt gimmie cyah connect online with the ps2. that is some real haterizm there...
