As for TechTV turning a profit...that wasn't my point. I was talking about the quality of the programming. At the end of its run TechTV was touting at least 5 weak BBC shows (Spy School, Robot Wars, Body Hits, Beyond 2000 etc) to fill up their line up.

Let's not pretend that those shows were great or particularly relevant.

Tech Live buss.

X-Play, the videogame show, was the ratings leader by far.

And as much as people want to put him up on a pedestal now, let's not forget when people were scorning Leo for allegedly getting Chris Pirillo (sp) thrown off of Call For Help.

Let's also keep in mind the ship-jumping that was going on (Sumi Das, Michaela Perreira, cute white chick with short hair, etc).

And of course Extended Play becoming X-Play, and the spate of hate it received for a few months before it toned down its new "extreme" format and adopted a more mature approach.

And all of this was before G4.


Now we have less Tech, yes, but we have a decent number of quality videogame shows. To dump or scorn that because of Comcast is nonsense. Yeah, be vex that Tech TV is dead/dying, but doh write off G4 because of that.

Games alone is not better than Games+Tech...but it better than nutten at all. Why call for the fall of G4?

G4 is an utter waste of time in my opinion.
I for one ENJOYED watching spy school.
At least then there were shows to look forward too , like Call for Help, and TSS which I watched religously daily.
Now I don't even bother looking at the channel.
It is an utter and complete waste of time.
I for one find morgan web looks like she had down syndrome and is retarded.

Fresh gear was good, I used to also watch that often.
The line up was getting stale, but there were still a couple of quality programming. G4 is trying to bring down Techtv with it's sinking ship , and they are succeeding.
Leo was kickass, Chris was a moron(anyone else saw the clip of him breaking the 'one of a kind' item.)?.
Leo and patrick kicked ass.

I liked Spy School as well.Body Hits wasn't bad either,I remember where they had this guy taking cocaine and showing the effects lol.

The thing is that TTV didn't have enough shows to be a 24hr tech network and G4 doesn't have enough videogame shows to be a 24hr network.A proper mergeer could have had them removing a lot of the reruns that now plague G4TTV.

Are ANY of their shows daily now?
They have what,about half a dozen new game shows a week?The rest is old TTV filler and reruns.WEAK.

i vex is only now i see dis thread...

ppl talkin but i doh tink any of we kno d facts really...i tink tech tv was doin fine dat is why g4 took dem over, tink about it why would a strugglin channel take over another stugglin channel??...d only ting i kno for a fact was dat g4 was losin money and goin down d tubes and it wasnt d first time d had dat profit problem so dey was lookin for a life line so dey parent company take over techtv.
