I've been hanging around the G4TechTV boards tonight and I've gleaned a few bits of info.

1)Pulse,Arena,Portal are canned
2)The guy from Cheat is gone(no word on the show itself)
3)The ENTIRE TSS staff save Kevin and Sarah are gone,all the behind the scenes people from TTV are gone.
4)The entire cast of Pulse is gone cept for Kevin.WTF?!Yes that means the new cutie Amanda is gone too
5)TSS will no longer have live calls and will be merged with Pulse to create something new on the 29th
6)They will be changing the channel name back to G4 TV next year.
7)They're going to start showing some junk about drift racing.
8)The Comcast execs have a lynching coming.

When they take Anime Unleashed off the air I'm done with this crap.
And before anyone is wondering,no Tommy Tallarico is still there.There is no silver lining.

Never liked Unscrewed, stopped watching Screensavers (Yoshi was a boss though), Cheat's host was Grade A Annoying, Arena wasn't very entertaining, Portal was absolute nonsense, so those changes won't hurt me too much.

Pulse now...that show started off excellent right after the merger, then they tried to add more tech-oriented non-gaming stuff a while after, and it started to go straight downhill. Kevin was the best part of that show by far though, so it's good he's staying. The other fella was cool too...kinda sad to see him go.

Once they doh touch Judgement Day, X-Play, Icons, and Filter (yes, Filter), I happy.

Tommy Tallarico (an opposing viewpoint is important on these kinda matters) and Lucas whatisname have to stay...the team up is excellent, and the show is arguably the best on the station.

So these changes aren't bothering me too much...yet

gahh i think i beginning to understand what a friend was telling me when i first heard of the merger. he said and i qoute "G4 bought out techTv just to get Xplay". it didnt make sense at first but seeing the hatchet job in progress the only thing thats going to be left is you guess it Xplay. ofcourse i wonder how long that will last since tommy has his own show Judgement Day which basically does  the same thing.

Tallarico is a prat and needs to go.He acts like an ass even on the G4 message boards.It isn't all an act for the show.He does bring some comic relief but at the price of him being biased to the core against Nintendo because they fired him when he worked for them.
I mean WTF?!Paper Mario 2 a 2/10?SSBM a 1/10?

Anyway just to address a few things laertes said.
I don't think you get what is happening to TSS.It's GONE.All the tech stuff we loved is over.It's going to be a different show with the same name.

The motivation behind their move can't be profit.Know what the top three rated shows on G4TechTV are?The Screensavers,Unscrewed and X-Play.

G4 was s struggling network that was making loss after loss after loss.TechTV was a network that was just starting to turn a profit in a time even faster than ESPN.
The problem was that no one wanted to carry G4.It was in 5 million homes total whereas TechTV was in 50 million.Comcast bought out TechTV to gain their viewer base.Not for anything else,but just to grab their providers.It's failing though,a few months ago DirecTV was going to drop G4TechTV from their lineup.

The G4 execs are just digging themselves into a deeper hole.The problem they have is obvious.They don't have enough programming to make a 24hr channel.Many of their shows need to be daily and they need just plain more weekly shows.The Tech part was important since it would have allowed them to have a broader range of shows and diversify their viewership.They screwed that up.From a business perspective,Comcast dropped the ball...again.

Like it or not, TechTV started going downhill long before G4 bought them. I have been watching since it was called ZDTV and seen many, many, many shows canceled often. Then it turned out that the only show worth watching was TSS, and if you watched closely, you would have seen Patrick had a serious problem with Leo's hijinx, Patrick was all business but Leo was light hearted and underneath the mix wasn't good.  Then TechTV started brining in the kids to hit a younger demographic, which proved to be a catasrophe, then G4TV started the so called merger, wanted Leo (the man who built TechTV) to give up his stocks, he refused, so they canned him and then all hell broke loose. I stopped watching TechTv at that point. They had all these kids, (novices I might add) trying to answer questions, who didn't know what they were doing. They have Kevin and the big-faced girl constantly talking about their love-life on the show. Yoshi, who constanly boasts of his mods, many of which he steals from the guys at metku mods and bit-tech, and then recreates with his unlimited resources and tries to make himself look innovative. Of course I would be able to do that too if I HAD A $60,000.00 LASER CUTTER ALSO! the show was on a steady decline, and it just snowballed when Leo left. He used to annoy me alot, but he was the heart of TechTV. PS. anyone ever called? lmao, they are worthless. I called three times, and got bad advice twice, and third time they just didn't know. I guess their google went down

oh, as for comcast and money, do not be fooled, comcast is a stupendous company, their problem is money. they will do anything for it.

Who do you think started that whole thing with the RIAA?
it was comcast who started selling out their customers. Thank god for verizon who fought for the privacy of their customers.

Camre many of us have watched TechTv since the days of ZDtv, and have endured the many name changes to what is now X-play.
Have seen numerous cast members come on go.
Martin Sargent was a good character to hvae on TSS though, made it hella funny especially the night a lil kid(about 12) accused him of being a pervert and watching porn

Techtv was far better than G4 will ever be and I have stopped watching the channel altogether since that lil punk retard kid started being on TSS with kevin.

Well personally, before when i was a huge fan of TSS, now i hardly go to the channel that much anymore. I may stay to watch a lil bit of X-Play now and then, as well as Judgement Day (though Tommy annoys the crap outta me, but he'll never get fired since he created the show itself!). The only show that i have anything remotely resembling enthusiasm to watch anymore on 25 is Filter...

Come on TechTV, we told you to run to the light!!! Escape the darkness that is Comcast!!!

I doh feel some of yall really thinking about what yall saying when yuh say that G4 is a waste of a channel.

It's true that TechTV was a better all-round tech channel than the new amalgam, but to pour total hate on G4 to the point of wanting it to be cut off the line-up is madness.


I rather have a channel with 3 good and 3 decent videogame-based shows than none at all.


And personally, I rather have it than the old Tech TV as well. I doh know if alyuh forgot, but TechTV/ZDTV was sinking hard before the merger. How many hours of Battlebots, Robot Wars, Spy School, Body Hits and other barely relevant BBC productions were showing a day?


In fact I remember *Beyond 2000*, a show that used to air on local TV a few years ago, was showing on Tech TV before the merger. On one episode they actually had a PREVIEW of this brand new technology called...the DVD.



The old Screensavers is a significant loss, as is Call For Help, but G4TechTV is superior to what TechTV was at the beginning of this year...by far. In addition to X-Play, we have Icons, Judgement Day, Filter and a few other decent game-based shows.


As a gamer that is great stuff to me. Even tonight when the G4 viewers somehow voted BF1942 as the most realistic war game, the interviews with the game journalists were enjoyable. And then we got interviews with Kojima and David Hayter on a MGS Icons profile.



I miss the Tech, but not that much.


Bring on the gaming.

Too bad they can't co-exist, but gimme gaming over tech anyday.

Well Kayo that's just you...but others in here hold tech equally important to themselves as gaming, and that's something that we loved about TechTV, they always supplied the tech news as a station, instead of going to web pages alone now...

I believe the two CAN co-exist, and do better than having just one or the other, but that wasn't the vision of either owner it seems...so one has to give way for another...and I dunno if there is enough gaming news to fill up even a 16 hour lineup properly.....and even then, WHAT THE F%$^ING HELL IS ROBOT WARS STILL DOING ON THAT STATION?!?!? It's barely even entertaining to say the least...at least watching Battlebots was fun .

I would say te two needs to co-exist. Seems like techtv couldn't provide a full 24hours of programming based on tech nor can G4 support an entire 24 hours based on gaming, if they brought the best of both togetherm it would do fine. It should be sufficient to full the entire 24 hours.

Actually Kayode,TechTV was NOT going downhill.In fact the station was just starting to turn a profit,in a faster time I might add,than ESPN.
TechTV was in ten times as many homes as the lowly G4 TV.
