Let's say we all had the technical skills to back up this situation, that being that we created a development studio. What post would you like to occupy? What kinda game idea would you put forward? I would like to be Level Designer, mainly , but also assist with design and some programming. What would you like to be?

Maybe work on the artwork concepts and storyline, with a dabble in the weapons (if there are any). I think its important that the artwork follow the theme of the storyline and as such there should be someone in the middle. ME  :D

we'll need :
 a l33t programmer skilled in visual C etc, [ not me]

 a l33t 3d  artist with a speedy machine and lots of rendering tools [not me]
.

a good level designer who won't make maps will lots of holes in them for us to fall through... forever...

 a game engine , HL2 looks good, SDK tools coming out soon
 
  a base of operations

 a concept to work on  

a gun freak , who can give us stats off hand of every weapon in existance .

a  holiday to get it all done.

  a leader who is not a n00b  

someone to screen everyone who will want to be the 'idea guy' and do no work .  

 how bout making a team based  multiplayer mod.. for half life II.... Trini life? Kidnappers vs regiment , galils and aks.

the main reason why stuff like this hasn't happenes yet tiny is because of lack of time and also u have to (if i am not mistaken) law agreements for such actions with can lead to copyright@

I could admittedly understand the lack of time, but mods are known for operating under such conditions. If we had a leader dedicated to the operations, we could at least theoretically deal with such managerial slowdowns and team members leaving and returning the team and all these things. I'm not sure what you mean by copyright though?

i think that the experience would be greatest setback, dealing with the organizational structure of a development team.

skills wouldn't be as much of a problem since mods are just learning experiences anyways. although i think if we bought some books they'd enlighten us on such matters.

Guys, you need teams on every team. There should be atleast five minds on every team to keep it flowing. If you all could have really put this together it would be great. EA is looking for teams to make 3 new development houses in the US. They are looking for all new ideas.

Which engine would we use though? source or unreal? i personally prefer unreal but if others say otherwise, then fine.

My opinion is that there is nothing impossible about creating a game in Trinidad. The only setback is acquiring industry level tools that the guys at valve and id are privy too. As for the know-how...there is a lot of info on the net. The parts of the game like story line, character development, gameplay design, artwork....all of this exists in Trinidad but just is not being used for game development(used for comedy fest..art displays etc)...YET.

Half Life 2 and unreal 2  come with industry level  editors that will make it (fairly) easy for us to make a game off them . And we won't be sued as long as we don't SELL the mod .
  I say source : it performs ALOT better than any game off the unreal engine , it has newer technologies , and more people will have a copy of half life 2 , to download the mod and play it .

The biggest obstacle is programming. Even if we do have potential locally, programmers in tnt are too conformist in there thinking and can't dream.

Animation in TnT sucks. Just look at local television ads.

am well actually it have better artists out in the US also from Trini...and then too is not totally artists....is what they getting paid to do...u get paid little u do little....doh say d artists....Trinidad have alot of good artists
