The true purpose of the GATT forum

I've been a member of this forum for a lil over a month now, mostly on account of strongton saying there are some interesting things to read here. I've known about Gatt for about 4-5 yrs now, i've played ONCE sometime they were in Eng undercroft or something to that effect. Beyond what is written here and that small interlude in Q3 Arena (and then wayne blabbing about how good some members were in QII and III) i've not vested any more interest into the actual Association as it were... This thread is aimed towards the newer members and older alike. What do u think is Gatts forum for (wrt the actuall Gaming association) and what is it supposed to be (comments from older, senior members, moderators etc).

I dunno if is something in the water or the curry, but somehow the forums have just lost some of the innovative spark that used to draw people to the forums...just disintegrating to a bunch of "Who better than who" type threads....

With all these new members around, it is all the more important to have the veterans set a good example and show them what GATT is all about.

Man ask a simple question and up till now he ain't get a half decent answer.

The forums are intended to be a means of communication for GATT membership to socialize and collaborate. Share thoughts and ideas on games and gaming primarily but social commentary and friendly banter on any topic is welcome. The forum also allows the administration to communicate en masse with the membership. Notifying them of events like lan parties, expositions, GL promotions, major gaming news, etc...

It is the main part of an ever evolving website that has seen many iterations. This is Version 6.0. A new version is on the horizon.

An evolution of a website is more than just shedding skin...it's about changing the core of your function to something that can adapt well to situations that arise....

there are alot of "know it alls" that frequent the forums and they tend to change the entire direction of the thread to something completely irrelevant. I would not point fingers or name names...uh, excuse me. I seem to have something stuck in me throat *cough! NEO! cough!*. yes as i was saying. These people need to calm down with thier flow of "knowlege" and answer the question at hand.

Instead you using it as yet another vessel to voice your opinion, and nothing more.

That is shameful and I've pointed it out numerous times, yet you persist.

Because that's all I do.

In any given forum thread, any given discussion, lime or sweat, all I do is voice my opinion without regard for anyone else's. I never help, collaborate, discuss or otherwise contribute anything positive in GATT.

I never give of my time or energy. It's all about me.

That's my way.

Do something about it. Delete me off the forum. Ban me from the association. Spread the word that I'm a GATT/Baego-hating troublemaker. That will solve the problem.

I know you may have your differences right now, but this bickering isn't going to solve anything. Let's try to put all of our squabbles aside and see what we could do together to make GATT the success it once was.

I will say again what the problem is. It is quite simply put: this forum has become a place to put one another down. I thought the one think that bound us was our common love for games, but anyone person makes a thread and then it spins out of control to some irelevant garbage about "doubles and college bridges" or "what akuma's logo means". This seems to be the place where you can always come to put another down instead of sharing some knowlege. It really is annoying when you have one person constantly complaining because someone typed in a phrase in upper and lower case, or they jump into to deny the merrit of someone else' post. somewhere along the lines we lost sight of what was fun, and some members lost their grasp of the chain of command. how many mods are there really? who is who?
