I have a Gateway DS 600S Laptop, that powers down regardless of being connected to the AC supply or when running on battery.

Can you give me any suggestions, as to where I can have it looked at, and possibly fixed?

well it's not my fault that kerosene is flammable.

but honestly, laptop city maybe your best bet. I had a customer with two broken compaq laptops and we carried that to DigiData. Took them 4 months, but they did get one repaired and one replaced.

Hoenstly, i was hoping to find the nearest thing resembling a gateway service agent. if anyhting, i'll let you know how laptop city turns out.

Cool, problem solved. Seems there wasn't much space between the plastic strip around the power button and the board. so basically the weight of the strip kept switching off the machine. a spacer was inserted and it seems to be fine now.

it took fujitsu ICL three weeks to provide a mobo solution for a Dell 3Ghz Laptop

Overall - I was happy with laptop city, there were usually courteous, and they did seem to solve the problem. the only con was the length of time. So i hope the owner doesnt experience more of the same problem with it.
