Actually Netcape is based on Mozilla's engine (Gecko) and Firefox is supposed to be the browser only bit of the Mozilla but they diverged abit so its somewhat different (Mozilla is a suite) and Thunderbird is the standalone email client.
IE is just weak

Mozilla is based on netscape's engine, it has a lot of other stuff integrated into it like an irc client/email client etc etc
Firefox was a project to just make a browser and make it well, they started with mozilla and changed it so much that they want to say it's not like mozilla anymore
Thunderbird is an email client, not a browser.
