What is your favourite type of strategy game?

empire earth was just a larger version of the AOE series in just one game and it was too big with regards to tech trees etc. and if you limited the ages it still kinda sucks since each country/civ uses the same units just like age

the best right now is C&C generals and WC 3ft since
both games have separate tech trees and units etc for each faction
generals resouces aren't limited as in WC but WC has heros

total war series was good since you had to really know what you were doing but gameplay was a bit limited

close combat series is one of the most realistic strategy game I have seen
infantry are in squads with weapon mixes for different fire teams etc

but now it is a bit outdated

any strat that isn't stuck on resource collecting and more on battle tactics is good

Homeworld 1, Homeworld: Cataclysm and Homeworld 2. 3d space owns you.

C&C all the way and the 'Craft series.

Personal favorite? A little known RTS called Earth 2150: Escape from the Blue Planet.

Played all the Homeworlds, beat all of them, can hold my own online, tho TSTT usually dooms me, lol. Should make a pass by Virtual Zone on Sundays and be educated, hehe.

Then you can probably educate me in Warcraft, lol

I've played a lot of strat games and I'd have to say that my favourites are Age of Empires 2, Civilization 3 and Rise of Nations [+ expansion]. Warcraft is good, but not the best in terms of pure strategy. I think they teach military management the best.

Rise of nations not bad,
Command and Conquer series.
Warcraft and Starcraft aren't too bad either

Empire Earth is, hands down, one of the best. Broodwars is classic. And Empire Earth2 is rumoured (last I heard) to be in the works -> a sure purchase...
