Ok fellas and ladies dis is a brain buster...
« on: June 05, 2004, 12:24:35 AM »
Ok people I had a PC problem earlier this week that just had me stomped...

My hard drive is an old one and i left home on last friday morning with my PC workin. When I returned home I tried bootin up my PC and i was misurably unsuccessful. The PC refused to boot, I tryied repairin my HD with the WINXP pro Cd that I installed it with, there was no repair choice at the setup screen.

When I became angered I decide I would do anything to get the machine to boot, so I decided to reinstall windows. When I atempted to reinstall windows, the same CD key that i installed the OS with in the first place was showin up as invalid key...

You are probably thinkin well if he installed Xp pro without the service pack it would be difficult to remove, incorrect I did install with the SP support.

I tries to install after several attempts, getting various CD keys along the way. When I tryin to boot one time, I got a message and I wasnt even reachin into the screen to enter Cd key. The same error comes up.

When I got an idea and decided to try to install me Windows 2000 and was successful, why is this how is this possible that I can't install, reinstall, upgrade to Windows XP pro. When I tryied this same error message, it's workin now but I still cah upgrade to Xp.

either your XP cd is corruptissh....

or you typed the key in wrong

or... there is a smudge on one of the digits of the key,,,,,,,,,,,

i'v had an experience with a RUSTED hard drive... half of it rusted to uselessness and it would spin slooooo ..... i doubt your HD is bad... do a scandisk and norton scan to make sure.
