Controversy helps with advertising better than any old preview.  Even from now, we could just speculate at how many people will buy the game just to see how bad it really is.

Rockstar knew what they were doing when they were developing this.  I mean, how could they NOT know?  This one is going to come out bigger than the other GTAs imo.

Nah...this is GTA...everyone looks bad in it.

There will be toes to step on, no doubt, but I really can't fault Rockstar for being racist or anything.

Especially after playing Manhunt and the last few GTA games. White American and British people starred in GTA games, then Cuban-Americans, now African Americans. And the game's have featured everyone from the Yakuza to the Russian mob, Italian gangsters and radio personality/molesters to crooked white police...and there haven't been any real malicious trends except for the fact that everyone is either a criminal or a stereotype.

They as level-handed as they can be.

My opinion at least...I'm looking forward to this game.

yeah true. but you know how people real sensitive when it come to blacks being potrayed in stuff. i eh know for sure but dont be suprised if someone pulls up in some kind of argument and brings up this new GTA as an example or something.

i like GTA, looking forward to this as well, i expectiing cadilacs and scvs with 20" rims an thing. graphic wise it looks like they basically use same gta vice city engine, looks the same way. so its just new story and locations.

was there any racial issues that came up in the previous gta titles?

Hmmm Hmmm Hmmm
I'm not too excited about this.
I would've preferred if they released scenic screenshots instead of character models.
Don't get me wrong I WILL be playing this for hours on end, but I don't think it was the right way to go as the first set of screenshots to be released for the game. They should've done some scenic shots and then release character models of all, or most of, the characters in the game.

Still lookin madd though.

Since the Inception of the GTA titles, the developers have been infamous for stepping on the toes of everyone they could find. With the advent of GTA3 as a full platform game their has been much conformity to somewhat acceptable levels of "spirited expression" aka cursing, nudity, etc etc etc on the part of Rockstar games. From Mormon religious organizations to Car Companies, ppl have been taking shots *not literally* at the GTA series.

Hispanics were appaled at "El Burro" in GTA1, Japanese culture groups frowned upon "Uncle Chen Wai" in GTA2, and i don't have to go into the White Anglo groups upset about the Texan fag in the limo...or Tommy Versetti pissin off tons of Italian "businessmen" in Miami.

The point is, like SouthPark, GTA offends EVERYBODY and does not target any particular group of ppl. It is a reflection of how society really is! The practice of art imitating life is age old.....it is for this reason of realism that the theme of the GTA series is sooo widely expected. So if ppl are getting offended that their ethnic group is getting a bad portrayal in the games....maybe they should focus on changing circumstances in real life for the better instead of trying to cover the problem with unecessary censorship.
