They have shown themselves to be senile, stupid , irresponsible , uncapable old people . Why is the jamaat STILL occupying OUR land? they have proven themselves to be terrorists and have links to the crime in the country, yet they still live?

Why is it that all our utilities are either directly or indirectly controlled by MONOPOLIES!!

why is it the we have more resources than any other carribean nation, yet the poorer ones ie. barbados, cuba. ARE SO MUCH BETTER OFF??

because everyone that has passed through the parliment in the last 10 years has been mentally deficient... is there some thing in the water they serve them at white hall?

I think it's in the water they serve us. It's basically the people of the country that have to get up off their lazy @$$ and do something about it. Our country is so under-developed it isn't funny, but apparantly the majority are happy with it that way. So why change it? Ask yourself these questions:

Why is it that people still can't get running water and electricity to their homes while the companies are TOTALLY capable of supplying the entire nation?

Why can't we get reliable, AFFORDABLE telecommunication serivces, while the rest of the caribbean has basically surpassed us when our telecommunications provider is "suppose" to be the 2nd best in the caribbean interms of advancement in technology?

Why is it that SO many of our roads are in such a disgraceful state when we're the home of the pitch lake, and the countries we ship our pitch to has roads that are 50x better than ours?

Why is it that our goverment keeps pumping billions of dollars into BWIA? Tax payers money go into BWIA when thousands of the citizens in this country might never or will never sit on a seat in one of BWIA's aircrafts.

Why are so many of our nations children out of school when we're suppose to be one of the leading countries for education?

Why is our government so focused on a peripheral issue like Nelson Mandela's visit, which they did not arrange, while the crime issue in this country is totally out of control?

People say our culture is so "rich" and so "diverse" yet we sit here and take all this BS in the face and complain until the next elections when we vote for the same useless characters to go back into office. And when they F us up for the next 5 years we complain and go through the same process again when elections come around.

barbados' people have a similar mentality... but the government is PUSHING the people forward.....

the government cannot do EVERYTHING.. most of our problems stem from our laziness and stupidity , but like the jamaicans we beleive that the "big man" n's decisions are all that matters and we can do anything we want.

actually if abu bakr came into power.... it probably won't have been as bad [ development wise] if the coup succedded.. but then again... we probably would have been bombed out by the US...

what this country needs.......
is a system of government wherby... all the people who are fairly knowledgable get the chance to vote and add suggestions to EVERY bill passed , that way we won't stall our development if the opposition is feeling bichy and decides to oppose everything .

why do we need so many ministers? the people working in each ministry are still the same, they still do all the work.. the minister just presents it before the parliment in nice neat litte "proper english " papers.....

BWIA is a flop, a national air line? please.. arrange to sell it out but make sure that most of the people working there keep their jobs... people won't stop coming to trinidad because bewee is dead.... the prices of seats on other airlines are still cheaper.

until you become a political insider, you should reserve judement of "elected" representatives

You cannot say that until you become a political insider you should reserve your judgement. That's the reason why our country isn't progressing, because we believe that they are doing "so much", but where is the proof of that? Where are the jobs, the homes, the thriving economy?

You can see with your own two eyes that there is absolutely no work being done in terms of development for this country, you can tell our economy is failing. You don't need to be a political insider to notice that, just common sense.

but anyays after talking with people from out neighbouring countries i have to agree:
trinidadians are:
1. more lazy
2. have less respect for life
3. are more likely to follow destructive trends
4. are more violent

politicians are representative of us. and, generally, on the whole, we suck.

i agree with flip, trinidadians seriousl overrate themselves... we are more friendly than say, new yorkers early in the morning.. but our society seeks to copy others, and does a bad job at it. how many people do you see walking down the street looking like a clone of 50 cent or some other rapper? Do those people realize how stupid they look?

Our government has a track record of stupidity, when they raised gas prices... they did NO RESEARCH into what kind of repucussions it could have, they take the advice of the people who own TSTT on what to do to further the telecomm sector, they have proven that half of the ministers know NOTHING about what they are doing..... they cannot control crime... they are weak, they let the Jamaat play around with politics unchecked.
we have nothing to fear about discussing this, the people in government don't know this website exists... half of them cannot use a mouse properly.

for instance, they are saying that a minimum wage increase in the energy sector can lead to inflation : WE DON"T MAKE/GROW 80% OF WHAT WE USE, inflation will be minor . They let the world see how weak they are, how slow they react to new circumstances , they let LNG exports get cut off completely for an extended period of time .

they play at being a strong government , ready to send troops to do what is necessary, one day , and a compromising, weak , pack of fools the next.

and i say to everyone who voted yes.. look at the facts again... and if you don't come to the conclusion that everyone else has.. you are blind.. take a trip to canada or the US sometime.. the differences are astounding.
