I've just purchased 2 Lumia 920s with a pair of wireless charging pads.
Hoping to see the "Shipped" status tomorrow, but wont be expecting those pads for a couple weeks.

CANT WAIT! :D

Windows Phone 8 early adopters bemoan rebooting issues

Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8X are the culprits
By Carly Page
Mon Nov 19 2012, 10:35

EARLY ADOPTERS of Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system are reporting that their handsets are randomly rebooting.
According to users who have flocked to Microsoft's and Nokia's support forums, the HTC Windows Phone 8X and Nokia Lumia 920 handsets are both suffering random reboots, while others have bemoaned the poor battery life on these two Windows Phone 8 smartphones.
One user on the Nokia forums said, "I purchased my phone in-store yesterday morning. Around 11am yesterday after only two hours of use, the phone froze up and I had to perform a hard reset."
A disappointed HTC 8X user added, "It was fine for a few days then a couple of reboots within a couple of hours. All was ok again until yesterday when I got 2 reboots within about 5 hours of each other. I wasn't doing anything on the phone at the time. I just felt it vibrate and I had the HTC logo on the screen."
We've been using both of the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8X handsets and haven't noticed any issues with either the handsets' batteries or random rebooting. This could suggest that the issue is limited to handsets purchased in the US, but we're yet to get confirmation on this.
These aren't the only issues that Windows Phone 8 users have been quick to vent about, as Microsoft's mobile operating system still suffers from a distinct lack of apps. Although Skype eventually launched an app almost two weeks after Windows Phone 8 launched, users are still hoping that apps from Spotify and Instagram will crop up soon.
Just days after Microsoft launched Windows Phone 8 it was sued by a company called Surfcast over the operating system's Live Tile user interface.
HTC is yet to respond to our request for comment, but Nokia has confirmed that it has received complaints from a small number of users, and said it is investigating the issue.
A spokesperson told The INQUIRER, "We have received reports of a small number of people experiencing unusual battery performance on their Nokia Lumia 920.
"This is not a concern being widely reported via our Nokia Care channels and feedback from many people is that the Nokia Lumia 920 enjoys great battery life for a high end smartphone. We are investigating, but we currently suspect that some applications may be using power when left running in the background.
"While we learn more, we advise people when finished with an application to navigate away using the back button as this will close it rather than leaving it active in the background." µ

I also read a decent review of WP8 on Ars... sadly discouraged me slightly from wanting to make a jump... a 'good' OS but not 'great' which is what it needs to be to lure users away from their safe and sound iOS and Android

I've seen the same reports and it seems to be an issue with NFC causing both the rebooting and battery drain issue. Users on wpcentral have found by disabling this it solves the issues, and nokia has reported they ah investigating it thoroughly.

And the apps situation will only be for a short time, just as Windows 8, d platform literally just launch, give it at least ah month or 2 to see how things look after.

And i'm hoping to get my 920s soon, so ill see if i experience d same issues. Disabling NFC shouldn't be a big issue for now doh, since hardly anything uses it at the moment. Once they release a firmware update shortly i cool.

Like all new platforms doh, their will be d glowing reivews, d midrange, and d negative, it depends on how u look at it.
Ppl who use hotmail, skydrive, etc, and embeded in the MS echosystem, says its an epic OS. Ppl who want better google intergration and specific apps will obviously cuss it. But d core OS is solid, and built on the NT kernel it have much potentiall. Time will tell if that potential is taken advantage of. but being entrenched in the MS echosystem myself (Office, Skydrive, Onenote, Exchange, Hotmail, Facebook, Windows 8), the core OS offers me almost everything i need. And the missing apps right now i dont use, so i'm cool. D app situation will resolve itself soon. So i could live with the superior versions of d things i listed for now. Including Better intigration, faster use, etc etc. WP strengths nah. Just made better with WP8.

Edit:

http://wmpoweruser.com/microsoft-looking-into-wp8-reboot-issue-pollare-you-affected/

Seems the occurrences are pretty low too.

Just received an email with an update.:

"
We have received your payment , we are just waiting for stock to arrive.

I  have emailed my purchaser for an eta and as soon as I  have any info, I will let you know.
"

So guess i'm trapped in the same out-of-stock situation, but at least i have an order in.

Edit:

I emailed expansys:

"Thank you very much.

I’ve ordered 2 Black units, are you guys receiving stock in White?
And will it be possible to switch my order to the White models?

Thanks,
"

Reply from expansys:

"We do not have a date on the white ones, they are currently listed as a preorder.

Thanks,
"

So guess i sticking with black, looks like i got my order in just intime too because now the black is listed as pre-order.

True Story:

Ordered food, went to pick it up, the conversation with the cashier lady went like this:
 Cashier: What is that!?
 Me: Nokia Lumia 920.
Cashier: Is it better than the IPhone and Galaxy S3?
Cashier: *Proceeds to take my phone OUT of my hand, without asking….she literally just took it”
Me: Yes it’s better than both.
Cashier: How so, is it faster?
Me: It’s about the same speed as the iPhone, but both this and the iPhone are faster than the gs3.
 Cashier: What makes it better?
Me: They took a real camera, and put it in this phone, so the stuff you find in an actual camera, is in this phone. It also runs windows, so it integrates with all your office stuff the best, and it has built in Facebook and msn and Skype.
Cashier: So it’s like a pc in your pocket then?
 Me: Yes
 ….
At that point I had my food in hand ready to go, and had to literally take back my phone, she din want to put it down. This small little encounter goes a long way to show how Nokia’s epic design stands out and attracts the eye. Its bold and unique. Typical I get the “Is that a galaxy” comment. With my HTC I occasionally got the, “is that a windows phone?” but mostly the galaxy comments.
Nokia is another ball-game entirely. “What is that?!” seems to be the common phrase when ppl glance this sexy piece of tech.

Lumia 920 is 4.5, not bad...

But yes, there are rumores of a HTC Butterfly esque monsta wp coming out in 2013.
But i wouldnt expect that till late 2013 doh, for wp9.

I eh hear any plans of an interim release.
There was a rumored 4.7" HTC that mite come out before.

But 5" would be wp9 im guessing.

I got a Lumia 928 and I love it. Windows Phone FTW! Coming from iPhone, owning an iPad and having played with several Android phones and devices, I must agree with Messiah, this is a totally unique experience.
