oh crap.... my brother and his friends were planning to pwn tstt with wimax technology as soon as they got a liscence...... dammit... my ticket to free bandwidth.... GONE!!!!

 highlights of WiMax
 - range of 20 miles[ or kilometres.. can't remember ]
 -  frequency above 4 GHz.. so it cannot be interrupted by sun spots/microwaves.
-cost : less than installing a big DSL exchange
- bandwidth : 74mpbs .
- ping times : its a LAN , get a couple overlapping the entire island and NATION WIDE LAN PARTIES .

where you see tstt saying dey gonna introduce this? knowing them it still gonna cost 400+.. gonna lag like shiiiite cause they only got one router out of country...[ do a tracert sometime]

Not going to happen soon, there are too many "special interests" against the liberalisation of the telecommunications sector. If TSTT loses market/monoploy power, they lose power. They will use political influence to obstruct the process. If you are wondering who "they" are just read the papers and see who are the most vocal opponents. We consumers can continue to pay through the nose for lousy service for all they care.

note: competitors don't have to be foreign.

its not widely used right now because they are waiting for manufacturers to create reliable affordable lines of consumer products for teh wi max
no sense putting it out if no one has the hard ware to use it

samsung and some others are releasing their line next year

Das jus a taste>Plus dey have a whole set of other economics in that , that i aint going into.So AT&T and all them land line based phone carriers will have a hard time.Jus apply some economics to the broadband situation whether wireless or whatever. Same things>Might not be TSTT but some one else runnin d show.
