There is no warOnly one can winThe Power of X
XNA is supposed to bridge that gap between Xbox, Xbox 2 and the PC. When you come down to it since Xbox 2 will be Mac based it may not be that hard. What will be hard is compensating for the HDD.About the multiple processors in next-gen console systems... interestingly enough John Carmack mentioned in his GDC address that four CPU's won't make it four times as fast even if they make each one powers a quarter of the screen. He suggested it would be better to use an extra CPU for audio alone, but even that would be 'awkward' in his words.Carmack is also in high praise of the NV40 saying it'll be two years before games will begin to challenge it. You can believe that since he recently installed a beta NV40 card in his PC.ATI is king but for how long?
XBOX 2 is not supposed to be backwards compatible. It is using a different code to read the games than it used to. There is also a rumor going around that they will be using 4.5 gig memory cards. All 3 consoles are using ATI graphics cards and all 3 consoles are getting their chips built by IBM.Honestly i find the backwards compatibility a waste of time. How many people really use it in the first place? Its just a novelty, well except for Gran Turismo.

Actually, the XNA is more than just a development system for the X-Box or X-Box 2, it also caters for Windows games as well.http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/03/24/ne...ws_6092125.htmlIt's a cross-platform development system. And judging from the demos, it's one worthy of notice. As for the questions about backward compatability for the X-Box, I wouldn't hold your breath on that, the differences in architecture may well stop such plans in their tracks. It's not only the switch from nVidia to ATI, but also the decision to drop the hard drive component among others. But who knows, they may just pull a rabbit out of their hat and surprise everyone, tho I doubt. Time will tell.
