FX5200 128 is a good card it handles  BF vietnam, Prince of Persia ,Gladiator,and much more it handles almost everything i throw at ...........good price good card can't go wrong

the reason i may never venture near nvidia again is because....


 nvidia does NOT make theri own cards for retail, they make ultra fast referance cards for the benchmark websites... and sell chips to people to build geforces. unlike ATI who has a contract stating that if any OEM partner makes a graphics card 10% slower than its default cards they will be exempted from nu ATI chipz, Nvidia don't care. So you will find graphics cards LIGHTNING FAST on which you will swear you life , and graphics cards so slow you can render 3-d faster with a calculator .

doom III Beta is LAAG EEEEE , it will not give you a good idea of how the final game will play, look at some benchmarks..

I final to understand how doom with the kinda detail you seein from the screenshots could run on a 440 comfortable. I sorry I just dont think so

you probably have a 5200 ULTRA....

 the 5200 non ultra 64bit is slower than integ! it comes with 8ns ram , no fan, it can't play HALF LIFE without lag

I had a 5200 not an ultra or anything and i used to play prince of persia on that and it worked fine as for halflife it worked perfect

this time the tables are turned, nvidia is faster [but only by about 25% , while it is 50% slower in HL2.]

512mb for both.

the mx 440 will run DIII fine, but you will be missing some detail because of the lack of pixel shaders and good bump mapping..

at least 2 gb, the demo is 1.5GB , but it is only 3 maps and  lots of textures and gibs are missing

one thing doom III will gave... is dynamic gibbing... the peices that are torn off from monsters... stay torn off... and there is a corrosponding hole to the gib lying around that is the perfect shape for the peice of flesh to fit right in

woa...that game sound really interesting...I wonder what engine it uses

it uses the doom III engine.... it is one of the most advanced ever.... yet its performance [ when playing the 3 room maps in alpha ] is greater than any other game engine of its detail.

 lots of new games will be using it, quake 4, JK 3 etc.
