Yeah I am thinking of it. Which ones will be de real deal. I looking at the card that coud handle the new DOOM 3 game to come since that seems to be the benchmark. I heard however that ATI may not be able to handle nt all de heresay gone and some good facts and straight talk. I would like an Ati all in wonder though but just going through some motions here asking people what they think and what not.

If is all in wonder features you looking for, then you have no choice.

ATI iymc.

It may not run doom fastest but it will run it fast enough.

wait for the 9800XT or the 9900 or whatever the new card coming out is named.....
the FX 5900 is faster for doom 3 because nvidia tweaks its drivers to sacrifice quality for speed . The 9800 is alot faster for Half Life 2 , and half life 2 is a much better game . You won't be playing DOOM for long , its a short game .
/me waits for gatters to pick up de ole ATI vs Nvidia issue while he attempts to telnet TSTT for dropping his connection......

hoss, you talking like you play Doom 3 and Half Life 2.

Also, you forget that when ID make a new engine, a slew of new games going to come out using that game.

So if a card rocks Doom 3 hard, it's a safe bet it's going to rock all the games based on Doom 3 hard as well.

Soldier of Fortune 3, Jedi Knight 4, Medal of Honor 2, FAKK 3, American McGee's Alice 2, etc...

Why wait on the 9800XT? Why not wait or the 9950NX or the FX 8900 Pro 3, rumoured to be coming out in winter of 2007. A source tells me the FX 8900 Pro 3 is going to get 300FPS in Doom 3!!!

Best to wait for that card.

why wait till 2007? cause by then either Nvidia or Ati will be a very dead company , a third better company will come in to the mix , Nvidia has started making processors for cell phones ...... they may pull out of the GPU business if they feel they aren't making sufficiunt profit

I won't say that, I would say if you want the "all in wonder" features that the ATI is the choice.

If you want superior Doom 3 performance, then Nvidia.

If you want superior Half Life 2 performance, then ATI.

And so on and so forth.

We don't have an overwall clear and cut winner just yet.

lol @ avoid nvidia like the plague.

You are a little late on that warning boy meam, Shizz already has an Nvidia card and he uses it to play every game we've thrown at him to date. lol

ATi all the way... they beating the FX in HL2 and aquamark2... only when yuh use Nvidia funnicated drivers that not rendering half of the scene then they become competitive...

lol @ fan boy statement by Heero. Hoss, only a dimented youth full of hate in his heart would wish that nvidia stop producing graphics cards.

For starters, neither nvidia nor Ati care about any of you and you shouldn't care about them anymore than you should care for intel/amd. Unlike Savage, which is a game made by gamers for gamers, Nvidia and intel make products to make money and for that reason only.

In the days on uncontested 3Dfx graphic card domination, their products were RIDICULOUSLY expensive. I won't tell you how much I paid for my Voodoo 1 video card, for shame.

Thankfully due to ATI and Nvidia going neck and neck now, we can afford fantastic 3dcards like the TI 4200 and ATI 9600 Pro for around $1000.00

By next year, the FX 5900 and ATI 9800 will be available for that sort of price too IF both manufacturers are still gunning for each other.

If ATI throws in the towel because of Doom 3 performance issues or Nvidia bows out due to DirectX 9 complications, we are all screwed. Prices will remain VERY high for graphics cards.

So please, remove the blinders and see the companies for what they are.

ATI has been making crappy video cards for years and been beaten by Nivida every which way. Lucky for us they did not throw in the towel and stick to making multimedia TV tuner remote control products like the All in Wonder.

ATI makes the best sub 100 dollar cards [ Radeon 8500-9200] .
Nvidia makes the best 100-150 [ TI 4200 etc. ]
ATI makes the best 150-300 dollar cards [ Radeon 9600 Pro, Radeon 9500 pro , radeon 9700 /9700 pro ]
Nvidia currently makes the better 300+ cards overall [ Geforce FX 5900 ulra/ non ultra ] except for HL2 and some openGL games .

that is precisely my point.

If ATI threw in the towel when Nvidia was beating them silly all over the place, then we will not have great cards for TT$1000.00 right now.

Next year, around this time, an FX 5900 will cost TT$1000.00 ONLY if both ATI and Nvidia are still in the game.

We need them both and preferably a third entrant in the graphics card race.

The last thing we need is for one of them to fold up and call it a day.

competition breeds a good environment for the consumer...the more competitors there are the harder pressed they will be to make "The best deal" for us in need of good graphics cards.

Anyone from T&T knows about the sit with TSTT and their Monopoly. A monopoly acquired by ATI or Nvidia would be the worst thing that could happen to us as Baego said.
