2004 is the year of the Outlaw...or is it?
« on: January 01, 2004, 05:19:04 PM »
...then again, so is every year that I sit down to do what I do best...
Usually, my reaction to it being a new year is somewhat mixed...sometimes I get excited at the prospect and promise of a whole new year, other times I just think of it as just another year to burn through, not really caring much at all. Regardless of what i think of New Year's Day, one thing is somewhat always for certain- a new year means change in this gamer's life.

There were so many things i wanted to accomplish in 2004...
I wanted to start my article here on GATT, expressing my thoughts and opinions as a gamer in Trindad [as well as your average human being] on a lot of heartfelt and interesting topics that have long since past [and I rebuke myself for not jumping on such opportunities].
I wanted to engage in a great gaming event on the behalf of my team[ as well as myself] to prove my mettle as a gamer.
But, most of all, I wanted to show everybody around me the potential that I possess, both as a gamer and as a human being, so that I can begin to earn the dues that most would only dream of.

Sadly, though, none of these things were accomplished, if at all, in 2003.
I feel somewhat grossly dissatisfied at my 'inabilty to represent' [as a certain GATT member puts it] and the constant promising to myself to go after what I've been looking for, without anything being done on my behalf to remedy this situation. But that's going to change.

I promise myself and all of you that you will see more of the New Era Outlaw, be it at the next GATT Yu-Gi-Oh! showdown, or even writing up my article [if i get the green light on it, that is...] or probably making a return appearance at the SnS to engage in the routine Soldier of Fortune battles that take place there quite frequently. Either way, one thing will be for certain...

2004 WILL BE THE YEAR OF THE OUTLAW.

Which brings me to a question that arises from this epiphany...
Is there anything you guys would like to accomplish in 2004, that you haven't been able to or would like to carry out since 2003?

Actually only one thing has escaped me for 2003
*The  ability to build an incredible deck that would rival the names of ppl such as chicken, smurf, killa and crazyangel
However in one or more occasions I have been able to overcome them but with little ease[excluding smurf 'cause I've never dueled him] I hope to have this changed in 2004 and be able to challenge them before they SELLOUT  on something which has helped them strategically financially and most importantly glore{built their names}
Well I hope Santa could drop off their decks or loose cards at my home this year
Plus that's my new year's resolution I'll outshine nwo and build a deck of supremacy off extreme card hunting and duels
I love Yu-Gi-Oh!

But Gatt didn\'t help I\'ll be watching from above

The game is not over until the final move is made

I plan to become a rapist in more than one game.  Just be the ultimate player in at least one chosen game.  Train and become a god-like boss that no one can test.

As a matter of fact, I'm ROFLMAO at the mere thought of actually getting cutarse from ANYBODY in that game.
I'm a 'Consort Mall Graduate' dude....I'm untouchable in that game.

Hmm...I must be slipping.
Tell you what.
Find me a good player in MvC2.
Not one that has built his/her career on running away and using that bastard Sentinel to back him/her up every five seconds, mind you, but an honorable player who can hold his/her ground in this game.
Guarantee you, he won't know what hits him/her.

Mags Tempest Chains

These will be the instruments of your demise.

Besides, if you can't handle a turtle, what good are you?  If you want to play a more stable game like CvS2, feel free to play me...oh wait...I've wiped the floor with you already....don't bother.
MvC2 it is.

How honourable is it to play with ppl like Servbot, Roll and Megaman.  2 of those can duck under projectiles and are hard to land combos on and you know that.  Where is your honour?

It's funny you should bring up that point, Imperial X...
MegaMan characters in fighting games define who I am.
My notoriety in Marvel vs. Capcom began with those characters.

You see, when I first started to play this game, it was merely because Mega Man was in it. I didn't know beans about Super Combos, could've cared less about Aerial Raves, all that mattered to me that he was an instant favorite with me.

Along the way, people would often taunt me whenever I played MegaMan and Roll together in a team...they would always say that team would never amount to anything, they would always get serious cutarse.
When I won back then, it was always 'You like to run?' and 'Constant backing off' talk behind my back. Looking back on it now, I realise that it was too true. So, I trained myself to be more aggressive.

I stopped running from moves that would have made perfect sense to back away from, and instead tried my best to counter them [Ouroboros and Beat Plane scenarios are testament to that.] I worked extra hard to make characters like Roll and Servbot more 'in your face' than most people would even care to do. Soon, people began to realise the potential these characters possess, and even began to retreat from the machine when I arrived. My old friend KAZ could tell you a story that I was banned from playing anything remotely resembling Street Fighter at Golden Doors, simply because I was 'scaring the customers away' with my antics [I'd like to add that it's not my damn fault that those people were such cowards...] I soon became bored, and slunk away for a while, just waiting for that one opponent who could really give me a decent fight people would pay money to see, and we would battle....with honour.

The point I'm making here is Imperial, is that I did not base my reputation on such characters by adhering to their stereotypes of running away. I strengthened myself to avoid such techniques in my strategy, and caused myself to be a worthy competitor in the Marvel vs. Capcom genre to date. You may think it's silly, but I have sort of...a bond with MegaMan characters. I established myself as a GATTer who has mastered each and every MegaMan character to grace a fighting game, and I have also based my reputation as a 'Consort Mall Graduate' on that as well.
I've always had a soft spot for the underdogs in games, really.
MegaMan, Roll, and Servbot were all considered underdogs back in the day....that's what also inspired me to play with them on my team.
They somewhat remind me of myself on the road to being a gamer...I was once the underdog.

So, Imperial, I look forward to the day when we do battle, and I promise you a most excellent fight. Know that unlike most games where I play just for the heck of it, I put my very soul when I battle that game.
Just let me know where, and when, and I'll be ready....[if stuff like school work doesn't bog me down, that is...] 8)

Until then....see you around.

After having read you life's story in your previous post NEO, you still refuse to admit the fact that the tiny characters you pick are extremely less combo friendly making them less susceptible to high damage combos and even the basic magic series of most characters.

Well...I guess you'd have to resort to Plan 'B' to axe me, now won't you?
Every fighter has his or her own strengths and weaknesses that ought to be taken advantage of...

Besides...you're not going to let a little factor like size scare you out of battling me, are you? 8)

Each character has his/her strengths and weaknesses, but MvC2 is by far, one of the more imbalanced fighters on the market right now.  We'll play it your way regardless, it doesn't concern me.  What did was the fact that after responding to what I had posted with your essay, you made no mention of what I was essentially trying to say.

Whatever.  I don't have much play experience currently, but I'm improvising some methods I've learned from other games in the vs series and incorporating them with what you can get away with in MvC2.  I still miss my six buttons although the current setup is easier though.
