Worker found dead at desk for 5 days

New York Times 22-January-03

Bosses of a publishing firm are trying to work out why no one noticed that one of their employees had been sitting dead at his desk for FIVE DAYS before anyone asked if he was feeling okay. George Turklebaum, 51, who had been employed as a proofreader at a New York firm for 30 years, had a heart attack in the open-plan office he shared with 23 other workers. He quietly passed away on Monday, but nobody noticed until Saturday morning when an office cleaner asked why he was still working during the weekend.

His boss Elliot Wachiaski said: "George was always the first guy in each morning and the last to leave at night, so no one found it unusual that he was in the same position all that time and didn't say anything. He was always absorbed in his work and kept much to himself."

A post mortem examination revealed that he had been dead for five days after suffering a coronary. Ironically, George was proofreading manuscripts of medical textbooks when he died.

You may want to give your co-workers a nudge occasionally. Moral of the story: Don't work too hard. Nobody notices anyway.

well, i can understand why HUMANS do it..but anyway.

there are OTHER things that people do which are comletely idiotic. Think of all the warning labels used on appliances. That alone makes one wonder...

Well something that happened a long time ago in America that i heard on some news was that a professor in some school rape one of his male students (let me emphasize on him being male along with his student) cut the man genital area off, fried it and cook it.
I heard this from more than one place so it should be true
that's just sick.

During filming in a remote area of Italy earlier this year for the controversial Mel Gibson film "The Passion of Christ," the actor who portrays Jesus was struck during a lightning storm, according to an October report in the trade paper Variety. Also struck was assistant director Jan Michelini, who had been struck by lightning at a previous shoot for the film, in Matera, Italy. None of the strikes created a serious injury. The film's portrayals of Christ and of Jews are expected to make it extremely controversial. [BBC News, 10-23-03]

News of the Weird has reported several times on police officer wannabes who don uniforms and perform free-lance traffic stops (usually limiting their work to merely lecturing the motorists). However, faced with recalcitrant drivers, police imposters Jeremy Lepianka, 22, in Syracuse, N.Y., in September, and Donald Sebastian, 54, in Cleveland, Ohio, in November, took an extra, bold step: They actually called headquarters for backup. In both cases, the incidents eventually led to the imposters' arrests. (Asked for an explanation for his obsession, Sebastian said it was just his way of giving back to the community.) [Syracuse Post-Standard, 9-29-03] [Plain Dealer, 11-11-03]

this is some messed up SH!T that people does do eh!

Can't stop de West Indians!!!
do you believe it???????????

A family in Trinidad was puzzled when the coffin of their dead
Mother arrived from the USA, sent by their sister.
The tiny corpse was so tightly squeezed inside the large
Coffin that their mother's face was practically touching the glass cover.
When they opened the coffin, they found a letter from their sister pinned to their mother's chest, which read:

Dearest brother and sisters,

I am sending you our mother's remains for the funeral there in Laperouse Cemetery. Sorry I could not come along as the expenses were so high.
You will find inside the coffin, under Mammie's body, 12 cans of Bumble Bee Tuna, 12 Dax Hair Grease, 12 Vaseline Intensive Care Skin Lotion, 12 Colgate Toothpaste and 12 cans of Spam. Just
Divide it among yourselves.
On Mammie's feet is a brand-new pair of Reeboks (size 8) for Junior.
There are four pairs of Reeboks under Mammie's head for Miloy's sons.
Mammie is wearing six Ralph Lauren T-shirts, one for Manong Roy and the rest are for my nephews.
Mammie is also wearing one dozen Wonder Bras (your favorite), just divide it among yourselves. The 2 dozen Victoria Secrets panties that mammie is wearing should be distributed among my nieces and cousins. Mammie is also wearing eight Docker pants. Please get one for yourself and the rest are for the boys. The Swiss watch you asked for is on mammie's left wrist,
please get it. Tantie Jean, mammie is wearing what you asked for, earings, ring and necklace, just please get them. Also the six pairs of Chanel stockings that mammie is wearing must be divided among the teen-age girls there. I hope they like the
color.
Your loving sister

NENE.

P.S.: PLEASE ALLYUH GO HAVE TO BUY A DRESS FOR MAMMIE FOR THE
FUNERAL.

SMILE)

Regards,
