Well i cah find trini last thread so i makin this one as a lil note

Ive been trying to beat his 40 something second timin on his silly little amd but so far i cant.

So i tried the 1 million calculations with hyperthreading off to see what would happen and low and behold.... the calculations were a wopping 2 to 3 seconds slower with out hyper threading.

I did at least 11 tests to confirm this, and to my amazement its true, hyperthreading really does make a difference!
*gasp* to all the besmirchers of hyper threading

of course it actually works. its more or less a (as i like to put it) virtual second cpu on the same die. i personally don't like intel. im a amd man myself.
And as I sat down on the couch, reached down and grabbed the controller, I most nonchalantly looked over, barely gracing him with my eyes. I uttered calmly these simple and truthful words. \"Spread ur cheeks and bite down, cause now you are F*@%ED!\"

Yes : trini and his little AMD puts intel to shame :P

OF course HT makes a diff, but 2-3 seconds is the same diff made by closing  your anti virus software before you  benchmark, or restarting . It doesn't truly enable the processor to do 'multiple calculations at once' as advertised,  but it DOES speed it up a bit .
Let me give you some tips : restart, then close all non essential software , i'd imagine going into Safe Mode will provide a few seconds boost , but haven't tried it yet .

PS: Athlon XP @2.4GHZ = 3.2/3.4GHZ P4 , upgrading my  crappy aluminium sink to a giant solid copper one , we will see some even higher overclocks soon :)
my score was 43 secs to 1 mill pi @ 2.4ghz, 425 FSB .

VIVA AMD!

got my new totally silent copper HSF.... not all that big after all . I can POST through 2.6GHZ [ wouldn't do that with aluminium] but windows keeps locking up .
the new LGA 775 prescotts are alot better [ as i predicted] they don't go above 45 C with stock aluminium HSF . And overclock 400-500mhz . Considering that i pulled off a 700mhz with my Athlon mobile i'd still say AMD  is betta .
I want someone to play around with the A64 mobiles.... they probably can clock like mad too .
my record remains 43 secs to 1 mill pi , i'll try to beat it when if i ever get a faster fan, and have the machine in a VERY cold AC room .

good job with the barton W1nTry , what kinda cooling u got?
