A third generation GATT member, Yohan has been a small but constant presence since 1999 when he entered as a part of Clan Bad Jimmy. While his clan’s presence in GATT was short-lived, Yohan has been a regular in the Eastern GL’s and is one of the founding gamers of Sip & Surf Internet café. His absence from most sweats is matched only by his unwavering presence on the GATT forums where he moderates the Card Captors section.
He is most well known for his role in pioneering the Trading Card Game (TCG) revolution in Trinidad. An avid Magic the Gathering fan and Mystical Isles member, Yohan is accredited with bringing the widely popular Yu-gi-oh! TCG to GATT. He is one of Trinidad’s first duelists and 3rd place winner of the very first National Yu-gi-oh! Tournament. Since retiring from the game he has trained many GATT duelists & national champions. Yohan is also an UpperDeck certified tournament organizer with 3 very successful national events under his belt.
His callsign (PapaSmurf) comes from his propensity to be viewed as a mentor figure to the younger members of GATT. It is also derived from his side job as a Junior Minister of the Christian Faith, where he acts as both a mentor and a peer counselor. A core member of the Crossroads Youth organization of the Presbyterian Church & the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of UWI, Yohan provides much needed moral fibre to the world of GATT.
