DVD Burner,and ram

hey,
I am thinking of getting a DVD burner
Lite on 4x for 1100.
is 256mb of ram enough to run that properly?
anddoes anyone know if i can get that cheaper anywhere?
Also i need a PCI vid card.
Preferably NEW,CHEaP!

256 should be enough, tho I wouldn't personally think of DVD burning on anything less than 512.

Regards the price etc, think you should wait a couple months, the 12-16x burners are rumoured to be coming out around April or so. Even if you don't intend to get a 12-16x burner, surely their coming will signal nice price drops on the 2-8x burners...just a thought.

PCI video card? Good grief...they still sell those? I think I saw another thread where baego was saying they have some extra pci cards lying around at some gl. imo, a PCI video card simply isn't worth the investment tho. But if you haven't got an AGP slot, then I suppose it's *understandable*. In any event, PCI Express is slated to make AGP obsolete by year-end.

Nah the guy i checking for got some 8mb onboard crap right now.
So anything should be better than that.

i have the same situation ...if anyone have any extra alteast a 32MB used pci card cheap let me also know

yuh could get an 8x for 1000, doh buy the 4x for 1000 yuh getting rip off, plus if yuh running xp yuh need 512mB of ram for good performance
