So the forums are back up and Sony has released some info on the PSP, well actually a lot of info. To be honest now that the estimate price is $200 to $300 for the 'value pack' this is actually starting to look up. Some how I see myself copping the DS and the PSP, maybe even both this year. I predict that the PSP will give the DS a hard time.

Heres a link to see the package.

OH I GOT MY INFO FROM IGN.COM

i agree that both system are great ..i was always leaning towards the DS actually kinda still ...but if the psp has more features that i like or want like video play back iand if the price difference is not much i would go with psp but then again which will have the games i rather i liked the games for the GBA like exculsive nintendo titles like fire emblem and metroid and advance wars so the DS might be the way for me to go...it all depends when the products are released then i will decide ...but like i sais i am still a DS fan

with the US launch date way behind that of the DS i think the PSP will suffer
i agree with laertes
look at the current consoles
because the ps 2 launched first the game cube and x box had a real hard time.
i say history will repeat itself

Ok, the handheld market is a lot different from the console market, so it really isn't about time schedule. The PSP is a far superior deal and quite frankly I was amped about the DS, I mean its cheap and offers a whole new style of gameplay. But now, I see, I can add 50$ more dollars and get so much more, the DS looks sour now. I don’t sit at home with any of the three consoles that long, and I’m not going to sit with a DS for 11 hours, so battery life doesn’t mean that much to me. I know when I’m on a flight I will appreciate that mpeg playback that the PSP has. The PSP is a superior deal.

The staright up and down is simple, read all the speculations when these handhelds were first shown and everyone complained that the PSP's downfall is it's battery life and price, but now that Sony kicks Nintendo in the crotch by releasing this low ass price. I was fixed on the DS, the price was the main thing that influenced me, but look at how much more I will get for $50 - $60 more. Nintendo did say from early that the DS is not the successor to the GBA, should Sony take them with the PSP, Nintendo can still drop and equal or better handheld in a year or two... on the other hand, Nintendo has never been known to bend, so I doubt they will take that road. But we'll see shortly

i think nintendo cemented itzs future by releasing such games as golden sun 1 and 2 on the gba

it harnessed the gba's power and showed that nintendo has great resources.

if we can see more games like golden sun  and maybe soem dread naruto titles (yay)

thigns will be great

oh and metroid!!
wow new metroids will rock

Yo, this is str8 up and down N64 Vs PSOne or GCN vs PS2.

the PSP is a meatier package, you are getting alot more value for your money, plain and simple. Carts dont compare to op discs, graphical power is not matched.

Sony has alot going for them once again. But on the other hand, they dont have their trump card, which is software, most of the release titles are rehashed titles, ridge racer etc.

but once again, I am gonna get so much more for $50 more, more than $50 worth infact.

but then again, the batterylife sucks and those memory sticks are friggin expensive. If i wanna put a couple movies on a stick, lets say .avi format, for a flight, I will need a gig stick, which is about $200. yes!

it truly is a battle. I think Sony will emerge. Crixx has a good point too. but we gotta wait and see

The PSP uses a little invention of Sony's called UMD (Universal Media Disc) It's said to be about 1.8 Gb in size. It's pretty small and in a little shell just like those stupid atrac Sony Mini Discs. Games should be about $30.00 US

Here are some specs. It looks like the psp's specs are superior in every aspect, except for the battery life and the touch screen. Then again tech specs usually don't mean very much. The DS looks just smidgen better cuz of the touch screen, but the i'm not enlightened on the psp's other capabilities like music and video. the psp also looks amazing in its own right too

REMEMBER way back in 1995 when SNes was King. everyone had one and everyone loved nintendo. i will always remember seeing the psx fresh out the pack at Game Junkies. Sony was known for walkmen and almost everyone i knew in person and online disliked it, maybe it was the fanboy in all our hearts for the N brand or the fact that it was cd.

ofcourse the Nay-sayers began to slag it with the hit list
cds scratch
motors burn out
its sony what do they know about games
nintendo will kill them etc

yet surprisingly by the end of 1996 almost all the nay-sayers owned one. even with faulty hardware the PSX lead and crushed all.

now the cycle begins again with the PSP and yet again the talk begins. funnily i think i can use the same arguements from back then now. i firmly believe that the psp isnt geared towards the under 15 market. Nintendo's counter ad campaign proves this point, psp is coming for more than just a gaming market. like the ps2 i believe the psp may cross over into hands that never own a gaming system but are interested in features integrated in comparison to its price.

look at the ps2 alot of ppl own a ps2 simple since it was also a dvd player. at the time of its release dvd players were still high priced. now we have a barage of handheld media devices entering the market in Q1 2005. the psp may jsut ride that wave.

i do admit the battery life sucks for a hanheld but i doubt its going to stop anyone from getting one. 4-6hrs is normal for a PDA and very good for a Laptop so personally i dont see a problem since many ppl own both.
