lite on 4x dvd burner

does anyone have this drive(liteon 411s) and is it working good ...i bought mine just over 6months ago and now i wont burn dvd or load in any.....i have always had problems with the drive in reading cds like it was not the best drive for cds .......and i also updated the firmware but still...now i need another dvd drive and i need recommendation...i dont think i want a lite on drive anymore so what should i get ....dual layer? ..or is it too early to get those?

well if i remember the warrenty right u should still be under it . the liteon 8x dvd rw work great never had any problems with them .

damn ..now i got to spend more money and get another one . am think about bring down the nec 2500....do you guys think this is a good drive ...it seems to have a good review on the net and the price is good..i think i will not go dual layer burning yet since it really hasnt catch on yet ....am my drive is off the 6month warranty but only by a few days .....actually maybe 2 weeks

Dual layer in my opinion is cool if u backing up them 4GB+ DVDs.I think some burners allow you to change the book type on the discs so no matter if ur burner reads DVD+R or not it'll read the discs since it's formatted as DVD-ROM.NEC coming out with a 16x DVD+/- burner and 4x dual layer.

Did you try cleaning the head?

Lasers can go bad/weak with age...still your probably just unlucky or burned a hell of alot of dvds/cds...

BUT you mention youve had problems reading from the start? It could be the drive not getting enough power...and by extension laser struggling...
try disconnecting all non essential hardware ps connections..or a big better psu...


Dual Layer, well media is way too expensive to be worth the trouble...And compatibility is poor to say the least. Though if you buying a new drive might as well get one since you not forced to use DL capabilities.

BUT THEN he will have to wait on 16x media...oh wait 8x media... makes no sense to wait as it will always have "faster" drives coming out.

Right now media support is way behind tech releases.

Price difference nowadays is too small to be bothered with hacks...which void warranty.

Unless of course you already own the drive.

i dont know. i have a 12x dvd±r/rw and frankly there isnt even 8x media readily available. it was really funny when i opened the box for my burner and saw 4x cds not even 8x cds to test on my burner. so as far as im concerned it was a waste and probably a waste to was for 16x as well.

as for unforgiven's burner i had the same 4x liteon and it worked pretty well. the no label (silver top) dvds burnt like crap but every thing else was fine. you need to get a refund immidiately ( since 12x are selling for the same price as 4x us to)

nah well by de time dey reach 16x dvd±rw drives, they should have some 8x media in the mainstream, but then again i'll wait for the 16x media to come out an all that. plenty waiting to do huh??

in any case, i'm sure by the time 16x DVD±RW drives are on par with CD-rw popularity, that bluray thingy should be available... and another set of waiting will have to be done.lol

i get enuff trouble from them clone yes, i go take the jargon crap an lil trouble now an then from the prefab crap

try cleanin the lens, an chek to see if any cds "shell out" in the drive, dat does mess up drives

ok pal i hear you..LOL ...i tried cleaning the lens and stuff but still ....i really seems i have gotten a bad one ....but now i get it to burn only when i am using verbatim 2x blanks...and a no name 4x blank...but not the ridata and anything else i tried
