Its not like Durons run hot to begin with.

As for athlons...well you can always undervolt the hotter steppings among
other things, if heat is such an issue.

All new steppings regardless of rated speed are the "cooler cores" be it
1700, etc.


Getting back to the original question...

The Duron 1600 if you feeling lucky and wanna do the l2 cache mod...you
will end up with a faster cpu by default if it works...and they o/c great too.

Oh yeah the duron will run much cooler since all xp1600 are the blazing hot
cores.



...Go for the duron..worst case its almost as fast as the default
xp1600...and lots cooler.
