As for my opinion on the new show:

MAN: X PLAY IS DEAD for me...this is THE show. All the INTELLIGENT reviews without all the mc whining and self degradation by Adam and Morgan-the harpy who THINKS she has poetic talent and can construct a Haiku...GEEZ, that was pathetic. Bet she doesn't even know th earlier form of haiku's called 'waka'...Anyway: GSN Games=The X Play we never had. Good show to build a weekend schedule around ^^

In-depth reviews? On GSN? No.

I watched it for a few hours today, and while it's definitely a good alternative, it's nowhere near X-Play in terms of quality. Not in my opinion at least.

There was one segment that was great...they followed two teams through a CS tourney. Otherwise, the show is extremely fluffy and aimed more at casual viewers than X-Play is.

Their reviews are short...about 2 minutes or less, and there are so few of them. They spent a lot of time on some old games, and spent what seemed like 10-15 minutes on a walkthrough of a PS2 action-platformer. That...not really too good, especially since everything they pointed out seemed so simple.

Overall though, it's not a bad show. I'd definitely watch it.

But you have to be objective and give credit where it's due. X-Play's hosts are often annoying, their studio segments are sometimes annoying, and it's "X-treme" theme is pathetic to many of us. It bothers me more than most...I joined the X-Play forums just to complain about the show's new look.

But the true meat of the show, its reviews and previews, are good, and often great. THEY are in-depth, not GSN.

Bias...I don't know about that. The vast majority of X-Play's reviews reflect the general consensus, and like any source of reviews, they have a few reviews that aren't.

By the way..."biased" doesn't stand on its own. Are the X-Play reviews biased for RPGs? Against them? For some and against others? Explain what yall mean instead of just repeating what disgruntled fanboys cry and moan about on the X-Play forums.

X-Play is a great product in a terrible package. GSN seems mediocre so far...very pedestrian. I don't need it to be EXXXXXTTTRREEEEEMMME, but at the very least it could be hardcore.

GSN not THAT good ppl. It is a nice alternative to X-Play, yes. It's not crappy (at all!), it have some good reviews, different views on the game compared to X-Play, but all yuh givin d show too much credit. Maybe it's because u hate X-Play so much...

The Gamepro portion of the show waz aite and the Gamer Sauce (that the name of it?), was NOT giving good reviews. Doh lie to allyuh self nuh. I mean, at least when X-Play giving they reviews (even though the are biased sometimes) you see alot of the game and they show u the good and the bad of it. But as i said before, the good side to GSN is, they show different views on games compared to X-Play (which is a VERY good thing to have nowadays)

I think Kayode made some good points in his post. Some of all yuh should go an read his own bout 2 or 3 times....

GSN is far from bad...but I hope it prompts Tech TV to buck up their act and give us a two-hour X-Play Block on Saturdays. They could rerun all the reviews/previews of the last week, without the in-studio segments.

That would be heaven.

Btw, there's one thing that GSn Video Games has going for it that X-Play really can't touch: Carmen Nicole.

A little perspective here.  First of all, Morgan's being on X-Play isn't really her choice: the PTB at TechTV decided that it would be a good idea, and I suspect that she was quite content on the Screen Savers.

Same thing with the Xtreme feel.  Not the choice of the hosts.  And as for Adam's career, he's been on ZDTV/TechTV the longest, (along with  Leo.  Michaela came in the week after, as she had some work permit issues)  

Xplay isn't great, but it's a lot better than it was when the new look shows started offf.

Yeah...I realise that Adam's gone from "Spaztic" to cynic. He doesn't "flip out" like he used to...that was the most annoying, pathetic part of the new show.

I prefer the old, somewhat reserved, sometimes sarcastic, sometimes self-depreciating, but always honest Adam.

Morgan...she eh terrible. Just not too credible. Wish they'd bring back Kate. She and Adam made a perfect team.

As far as I'm concerned there should be dif people reviewing different genres on Xplay. Its quite obvious that there types of games that Morgan and Adam dislike.Their word isnt the be all and end all of reviewing video games
  It would be quite possible if Xplay had a bigger timeslot.

All I ask is that they lose the damn corny jokes and retarded skits.Add some more reviewers for different genres and then they'd be golden.

There is a staff of writers that writes game reviews behind the scenes. Adam and Morgan probably personalise it and give it a once over to add humor and get it in synch with the video.

Go check the website. Adam and Morgan only write a few...I doubt Morgan writes any.


Alyuh men doh try tuh inform alyuhselves. So many of the opinions alyuh have based on ignorance and unfounded, untrue statements.

He'd show those fools at Xplay how it's done.....not with crack addicted hosts and eye candy....but with tough, real and HONEST game reviews.

As for the girl on GSN, Carmen Nicole, I not sure, but it have something kinda wrong with her. She doesn't convince me that she actually knows these games and she's just reading straight from cue cards. Actually watch her properly (i did alot o dat over the weekend), she has a calm, slow speakin approach, not like on X-play where they're vibrant and at least do rehearesed sketches....
