Urban street racing is nothing new.
People in America do it virtually all of the time, especially past midnight at those Red Light Districts.
To say that it was caused by a game based on something that existed before it is just nucking futs. Serious scapegoating, and then some.

i like that quote dere  neo, a game based on something that existed before.

And if the americans could pull dey head out dey ass long enuff, they could deal with the root cause, and not the symptom, which is the game.

*le sigh*

i'll tell you know since before vindiesel exploded on the scene with fast and the furious, ppl was still racing their fancy cars around, before that few or no gaming qualities made "illegal Street racing games". America is so damn backwards i mean, they could send me over to iraq to kill some dudes, but i can't comeback home and sit in a bar and have a drink.  and the thing is these suburban mothers push the shit more and more to make it one big steaming pile of $#!+. FUDGE THE SYSTEM!

"Remember, folks, guns don't kill people....video games do!"

Seriously, do they think ALL gamers are a bunch of wazoos who can't differentiate between reality and fantasy? I pretty much doubt a game could impact a person so much so that they're hypnotised to do these things. Heck, if that was true, I'd be running around Port-of-Spain firing my X Buster at people I think are Mavericks, and then checking my watch to see what new weapon I got from them.

Not to say that there aren't people like that, but such people are pretty weak-minded, anyway.

Take this into account... These ppl are 'RESPONSIBLE' enough to drive a car... but NOT responsible enough to differentiate real from video game??? I mean COME ON, talk about some red-neck noone trying to squeeze money outta game developers for THEIR OWN shortcomings and foolishness... just goes to show there are alot of STUPID mcs out there.

Well running on amd and ati would account for the HIGH performance out of lower specs... look at it this way, you'd be safe with intel and nvidia, you'd be slow, run HOT if not overheat and stall on the highway and never get there, and you'd have to tear up ur (road)maps all the time cause you always get lost by the higer peforming machine passing you by. But then again driving slow doesn't account for some mc flying cross de highway and #$%^ing you over. I like to know I have the power under the hood even if I don't use it all the time :p which in the least means no intel... nvidia decent. But we ALL know AMD+Nvidia PWNZ Intel+ANTYHING :P

Dat was funny...but anyways..I just realized something...

People imitate games like Doom, GTA and now Need for Speed... why can't they imitate games like Singles or Sims...or even Playboy Mansion ^_^

How playing a game could influence somebody so? Playing Pong years ago never influenced anyone to play tennis! Anyway, young ppl (17-19 yo's) should not get cars with engines larger than 1.3! (I could say that noy that I 26 and go a 1.5!)
But seriously, how could games influence to this? I love the Doom games, I dont go killing aliens. I play all versions of GTA from the original, I dont think I can hit someone till they bleed and an aumbulance will come, techs just touch them, and they get up!
Come on!

I watched an episode of Family Guy last night and the topic of a particular section of the show (since it has a million themes in 1 ep) was the FCC and how its the responsiblity of the parents to oversee what their children were watching on tv. In that ep the FCC was sensoring all the 'bad' content on cable TV and Peter decided to make his own station to counter it. Was hilarious. The synopsis was that the moms called FCC about Peter's own station and they buss him down... however the FCC started to sensor life and they couldn't get it on. So Peter went to Capital Hill and pointed out how so many things in american culture prove they're all perves... like the washington monument looking like a p3ni$ and they all agreed it was not somethign they could sensor.... alas if only they would do that indeed. Too much sensorship and blaming it on things like GAMES... PULEASE!!!

I hope this thread is the end thread for this, meaning that all future threads associated with this sorta thing are put here... we've read many a GAME X stated as reason in killing, or RACING GAME Y blamed for car crash, or can I have a CUP OF JOE MOD in my GTA... I mean its just never ending, now AGAIN the WORD game is in another crime:
Quote
Coppers say video game taunting led to killing

In chicago don't bring a knife to game party

By Nick Farrell: Monday 20 March 2006, 16:00

A 16 year-old has been charged with first-degree murder after a stabbing of an 11 year-old boy with whom he played video games.
According to the Chicago Tribune,James Terry and Clay "C.J." Ether were among a group of seven who were playing a video game in a second-floor apartment.

Terry apparently taunted Ether who left to got to his apartment on the first floor. Later witnesses claimed to have seen Terry at the boy’s apartment. Terry was found hiding in a closet after the stabbing. A knife used to kill Ether had DNA belonging to Terry on the handle.

Why couldn't this just be, Teenager kills child over taunting FULLSTOP... WHY does it read COPS SAY video game... I mean really? if your child act in such an extreme because he was taunted, chances are regardless of what the taunt was about he'd have done it and that's just a PARENT's FAILURE to properly see about the needs of their child. That child must have been brought up by a TV CLEARLY. I am FED UP OF THIS CRAP. Giving gaming a bad name UNNECESSARILY. More here
