Lucas is classic film making, no doubt about that.

But the person did not specify which was being considered in the trilogy.....the book or the movies. Since SW has very little to offer in the literal world, i'd say that LOTR wins by a landslide. It's the movies that prompt consideration:

Classic filmaking and old graphics VS Cutting edge graphics and excellent cinematography.

and this thread is stupid cuz in the first place, star wars is not a trilogy, its a 6 part saga!
and i won't compare star wars and lord of the rings with each other, they are 2 totally different sets of movies. there is no real relation between them.
