3d mark 2001- 2001 SE there is a DIFFERENCE!!

i thought my 3d mark 2001 SE highest score of 6500 was poor... until i saw that there was a DIFFERENCE . The TI 4600 gets 12000 2001 3d marks and about 7000 2001 SE 3d marks . I'v seen radeon 9700s get 16000  3d marks and was amazed... but now i know its not much of an improvement unless AA and aniso are on

3dmark score is very dependent on cpu speed (among other things).

A score of 2x does NOT necessarily imply 2x performance (fps) in a specific game!

Quoted scores are usually made at default settings unless otherwise stated.

2001 se *330* is just adds dx9 eenvironment compatibility

Radeons strong point is AA, while GF strong point is AF.

I sometimes find that 3d mark scores dont really mean anything. the most accurate judge you can get for your system is the new 3dmark2003 dx9 tests. the older versions suffer with the fact that their outdated. the rating system is suppose to be between 0 and 5000 but around the 2001 a system that scored 5000 didnt have the specs we have today. a 2.4ghz cpu and gf4 ti2400 easily score 10000 on 3dmark2001 but barely make a 2000 in the new one (although there are ppl who make 9000 and above). frankly 3dmark is a gloating tool where you can rate your embarassment or pride against others. when in the end the only thing that matters is that you can actually play the games while keeping them as good looking as possible.
