I saw it for the first time last night on Cinemax at 10p.m. Yes i know, i'm kinda late cuz it came out in cinemas awhile back. BUT! I saw it for free in the comfort of my own home......so ne wayz, I was excited and anxious to see why ppl called this movie one of the best movies of the year. Well after watchin dis movie under the covers, I'm bout to give it my review...

Review: 8/10

Pros: This was one seriously scary movie. I give it props for that. From the 1st five mins., i was spooked and it jus continued throughout the movie. When was the last time that happened to u? Well 4 me, i cyah tell las time dat happen (oh yea, 4 blair witch....2 that is...but that's not d point). It was spooky, interesting and a mystery all rolled up into one. The tape....wha d hell goin on there?

Cons: Unstable storyline...i.e. the ending. They did not explain everything as they should've. They left WAY too much openings. One big big question they didn't answer was how the tape waz made in the first place. I not buyin that bs reason bout how they doh know cuz it didn't have a track no. And they didn't explain how come the little boy (Aden or wha eva he name was) was able to talk to the girl. They didn't even explain about how he knew about the death of his cousin a week before! There were 2 or 3 odder tings they left unanswered also.....

Afterthoughts: Throughout this show, i was on the edge of my bed watchin, heart beatin fast, but as it boil down to the las 5 mins., yuh shoulda hear how much noise i was makin 11:30 in d nite. It was sickenin... the endin was unacceptable, but odder than that... it was a pretty good movie. Freaky little girl....

nice review,
i more or less agree with your pros n cons except that while i though it was quite interesting and i enjoyed the movie, i didnt find it scary.

This was one unseriously scary movie to me when i saw the 1st 5 min., hmmm i could not wait to see what the ppl who made "scary movie " was going to do with them two girls ...........

Spooky movie not frightfully scary though. I actually slept really well after seeing this in the dead of the night in the bush with no bloody other lights on. Gah. Was actually waiting for a moment when I'd have to turn it off. Didn't quite happen.
Wasn't the run of the mill horror so that wasn't bad. Nice concepts and storyline. Cinematography did the job. Music..or lack thereof...very appropriate.

are u ppl serious? this was the scariest movie i've ever seen. ever. there's jumpy scary like Signs which only have jumpy situations, then there's chilling scary that only has you wondering after the movie done. i remember Fire in the Sky was one such movie, i didn't sleep for a week after seeing it. i still remember the night i saw it. The Ring was just like that. To this day every now and then when i fall asleep, it's like "Nah, it ain't possible"

It was a scary movie but watching it coming to the ending. I was hoping they will finish it when they took the girl out of the water. It would've been great right there but no the boy had to open his big mouth.

Why do all scary movie have to end so ComOn ppl be different for a change.

P.S.Signs and Others was a good scary movie the first time

We once played a prank my friends girlfriend .We got her to watch a clip of the ring video on my friends PC.

Then called her right after from a cell phone and whispered

needless to say she was scared sh!tless. lol

You should have seen the look on her face when the phone rang and when she answered it.lol

Handsome is rite. That is one of the things that made the movie better than others. I know REAL ppl (includin me) thought that waz d end of the movie, when they pull her out of the well.....

Lovyan... i know sometimes movies leave out things to make u think, but these are KEY things in the movie that u really shoud tell the viewer, cuz these are jus really stupid plot holes left open (if someone could give me a REASONABLE explanation, i'll be quiet and not argue bout dis).

OH! and i jus realised someting else that I wanted explained to me. Sumara (crazy, drownin girl nuh) grew up on the island place. Then when she got older, she was shipped away to the psychiatric ward. After that, what exactly happened? Her mother took her out, then she drowned her? And then her mother waz overcome with guilt and commited suicide?

the ovie was bloody brilliant,yet it did leave somethings unanswered
btu to really get the answer check upon the source material
the japanese movies Ring,Ring 2,Ring 0
and the mangas which were inspired by the movie
useless trivia:
the japanese Ring(1998) was one of the most successful movies in japan

Anyway this movie was truly frightening when seen in perpetual twilight, especially if u have a friend who screams like Ned flanders....call him after the lady gets her 1st phone call.

Actually yeah i'm waiting to see the Japanese version to scare myself stupid - especially if this didn't do the trick. I heard that one's terrifying? Hmm guess I'll have to see...and not alone!

The plot's pretty straightforward and tight with explanations at end even though some questions remain unanswered. Nothing can be perfect I suppose. This isn't one of my favourites by any means though. Overall was alright.

VERY BAD MOVIE!

Samara made the tape the same way she made the images on the heat sensitive paper. By 'burning it onto the reel' OOOOOH! :shock: SPOOKAY!

I didn't think that it was THAT scary, but more 'thrilling'... like Signs was.

The Japanese version is called ringu.....and while the acting is less than perfect.....the story and the series it's presented in is absolutely superior to the american version
