Actually Baego, anyone using interserve/rave/fibreline/carib-link might have no choice, cyah afford, or just ignorant in which case ok beat dem. Also there are other factors to look at. Be very careful with those Smart choice plans. TSTT really SMART for real. Take for instance, if u do use any of the aforementioned alternative ISPs, chances are u have more internet hours a month than any plan other than Gold. Then factor in if u make more cell calls than anything else. It would be adding insult to injury, cause then u HAVE To pay the 200+ for calling land lines (that u may not use much) PLUS still paying for the cell calls at usual prices. So in that case the plan SUCKS. THen factor in pplz like myself not in a DSL ready area, or at least they have not yet reached my area which is SO ubsurd since I live in a large, mid to high income neighbourhood with more recently installed phone lines (aka Cu). I think TSTT sticking and I wish some stiff competition WERE CAPABLE of entering the hardline market to make them put customer service first and their $^#$#*& top exec pockets last.

WTF
!!! my dsl gonna jump in speed by month end?!?!?!?!?!?!
Now that is music to dl-wh0re like myself-ears... As long as the mc's doh try to stick you with some surcharge or anything so.
I tief the sales person head and get
MAJOR
discount
, SmartChoice 20% and 3-year 15%... lol (that's $312.80 after tax) only reason I took the 3yr was for that discount... I know, I know, I cheap like that LOLOL
As for the alt. ISP's out there... If you use them and don't really buss your phone bill with local calls, then don't take smartchoice. But, if you run up the bill regular like, and don't make much cell calls, (and use tstt dialup) then SmartChoice is the SmartChoice (tstt mc should be paying me for this oui)
Voyd out...

now wtmc @ 3 year contract! you real cheap boy. Suppose somebody come out with a wicked broadband solution for $200.00 within that time? Pressura.
(although, from the looks of things, that not very likely, so you might end up havin the last laugh, lol)
right now I pay $200 a month for my DSL, since it is shared with a neighbour.
It is the cheapest way to go but only works out if you don't mind contending with each other for the bandwidth. I've invested a lot of time finding a software solution that will split the bandwidth in half but came up with nothing useful for our scenario. On the hardware side, it seems that is a feature found in only high end equipment designed for ISPs.
Still got one hope, which is a linksys router runnin a hacked linux kernel instead of its default firmware.
still drooling at the thought of that 512k upgrade though.

I hope that this one comes true sooner rather than late.

That is impossible.
Will run tests when I get to the GL to see.
As for the DSL news, its' from inside sources at TSTT, that is all I could say.
Not an official statement or anything concrete like that.
