As part of "Operation Nude Sweat" GATT has setup a persistent IRC channel.

Better yet, we have configured an mIRC client to automatically connect to this channel AND the local PVPGN gaming server (also known as starcraft.gatt.co.tt, local battlenet or wc3.gatt.co.tt)

Simply download the Zip file and extract it to any folder. (example: C:apps)

Run Mirc and boom...you will appear in the GATT channel.

Now you can chat with gamers on IRC and the local server at the same time, transfer files and more all from the same client.

FAQ

1) I'm in!! Now how do I change my nickname/callsign?

Type /nick YourCallsign
Example: /nick GATTer

2) Excellent! Now how do I change my name on the PVPGN gaming server?

a) You can ask another member to create an account for you
You can log on to the server with starcraft and create a new account yourself.

3) I am accustomed to Topaz, why not recommend that?

Topaz has serious memory leakage issues and can hog 99% of your CPU when it crashes or is unable to connect to a server. Requiring a reboot on a window9x machine or an end task on a win2k/XP machine. Very nasty stuff.
mIRC is a much thinner and faster client with more advanced options, like the ability to send and serve files while still being easy to use.

4) How do I send and recieve files?

Right Click on a users name on the right window pane and choose DCC -> Send.

You will then be prompted to choose the file to send to this user.

If a user sends you a file, you will be prompted with a window asking whether you want to accept the file or not.

5) Kick brass!! Downloading files immc but where are they on my PC?

Sounds default to your mirc sounds folder and other files go to the mirc downloads folder.
example: C:/apps/mirc/sounds


6) Sound, I want to play sounds!!

Simply type /sound filename.wav to play a sound file to everyone in the channel
example: /sound dry.wav

7) Kick brass, but if I wanna just test the sound out without waking up everyone?

use /splay filename.wav instead of the sound command to play the wav file to yourself only.

example: /splay dry.wav

I don't have a wav file everyone is playing. GiMMEEE!!!

a) ask someone to DCC send you the file
type !nick filename.wav to have the person automatically send you the file.
example: !hiddenagenda bwtmc.wav




9) I am an IRC veteran, I don't need no stinkin customized client, I have my 0wn!

Cool, cool...if you don't want to use the customised client, here is the pertinent information to connect to the GATT channel.

10) What's this GAIM about?

GAIM is an opensource instant messaging client. It connect to practically every messaging system out there. AOL, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, IRC, etc....

That means you can chat with other gamers irregardless of what system they are running. One IM client to rule them all!! seems to have been the motto of this awesome app.

Also of note, you can setup several accounts in GAIM. Tired of that msn 150 user limit? Create a second acount and up your limit to 300! They seamlessly integrate into the same GUI.

GAIM is the GAMERS choice for instant messaging. lol

11) Trillian an alternative to GAIM

Trillian is basically the same as GAIM except it's alot simpler and streamlined. Support for AOL, MSN, IRC, ICQ, YAHOO ect.

Basically the same as Trillian but with more advanced P2P features. Want to share your files and folders with friends? This is the instant messaging app for you.

Alternatively, Mozilla comes with a pretty decent IRC client, which does not nag you like unregistered mIRC.
