I voted for touchscreen.
That has a lot of potential.
Wireless connectivity runs a close second with me.....I remember the number of times I ran into somebody with a Mewtwo with my Pokemon Gold...only to let out 57 different varieties of cuss when we didn't have a link cable nearby. Good news. :)

Oh, and no debates over the DS and the GBA OR the PSP, please. That last thread got sent straight to Hell because of that.

Ok im going to rain on this parade.

the DS uses a gfx engine similar to the N64 so while  you do get 3d graphics its no way close to the gfx of the gamecube which they'd love to imply.

in fact comparing the ds to the Psp you really see how inferior the gfx is.

look at this
Sony PsP

VS

Nintendo DS

i must admit that the ds is a lovely concept and nintendo lovers around the world will unite in joy and fanboy delite. yet after all the fanfair and joy you'll realise that the touch screen is just  a gimmic and that the gfx sucks so much that some games arent eveb enjoyable. youll be bombarded with n64 rehashes after they run out of remakes of their licenses. youll then ask why did you ever buy it? funny i have a few friends in foreign who are asking that same question.

nah dread. doh talk that.
ive been a proud Gb owner since 1994, ive been through Gb, Gb poket, Gb colour and GBA as well as had a super GB for my snes.

im just saying whats on my mind. you are free not to like it.

The DS is a poor choice. it might go on to beat the PsP but what i said is still fact. yet i going out on a limb and saying it probably wont. infact i probably say that history is probably going to repeat itself. i think that at this point in time the Psp has alot of what ppl want now.

i rained on this parade simply cause im disatisfied with nintendos product this time. when your playing zelda - OOT or MM or any other N64 game youll understand what im saying. the DS is innovative but not enough. im saving my cash for the newbie.

Ps sorry Outlaw didnt see you last message about no rants.   kinda went off.

That's all right.
It was a pretty good insight into the comparison between the two, and it was done in such a way that it didn't de-evolve into a mindless debate over which system was better.
Hopefully, it would stay that way.

EDIT: Justinkoo, my boy, I -really- hope that comment from you was just a joke, because if it wasn't, that was really uncalled for. I'm pretty sure it was, but I'm just letting you know.

i recently read in this months issue of gameinformer that third party game makers were having problems developing PSP games because
1.The low battery life  [5hrs or less approximately with the backlight on]
2.Low storage on the type of discs their using meaning limitations on what games and what kind of games they can produce.

Oh yeah NEO it was just my sarcastic self

nah thas just the (possibly nintendo fanboy media) propaganda machine running off. there is alot of anti-PsP propaganda around ever since Sony released news of the system. shows you how harden the fanboys are.

at first the lies where that it was huge and very heavy, this ofcourse has been disproven.
then it was said that the graphics sucked, this has been disproven,
some ppl then harped how the battery life was as little as 2hrs, facts are that the battery life is over 6hrs with backlight on. keep in mind that a laptop only allows 3-4hrs without a cord. a new pda allows 2-4hrs depending on backlight use. so for a multimedia system thats good figures. if you saw TSS yesterday you'd see they were showing of the PsP battery life.

i cant see how designers could have trouble when the disks have over 1.8gb of storage. thats 3x the storage on a ds cartriage.

it funny how these arguements sound so similar to the ones made back in 95 when we had the N64 and the then unknown PSX. history favours the PsP simply on its choice of media.

i remember back in 95 the fanboys said the psx wouldnt last. they said cds scratch and parents wont buy then for children. they said the laser will cause the system to over heat and burn out.  they said cds have long load times. even said that sony knows nothing about gaming. Funny enough most of this is ture.
yet almost 10yrs later and nothing not even rich M$ can topple them.

in the end i think i just leave you with this picture and you make up your mind.

LMAO, were they actual "lies" ? I think Speculation or rumors may be more of an appropos term. Considering the fact that Sony took so long to show any media of an excessively hyped system.

1.8 gigs is actually 14 x the storage of a NDS cart.

I can't remember ever hearing "the laser will overheat and burn out." Especially considering the technology had been around for years AND established in PC's. And I recall Sony went through 10 designs for the PSOne (Let's not call it the PSX anymore, huh. The PSX is an actual piece of hardware now. Only to avoid any confusion.) and it still overheated, the lens went bad in months, you name it, this system was plagued with it. I know some people who called it the PlagueStation for that matter. This was also the case with the PS2 which still scratches disc, when you place it in the upright position. (I personally could careless, my system has been like that for months, games still work so it's not that serious, but it is a problem!)

CD's DO HAVE LONGER LOAD TIMES!

*seems a little defensive about a piece of hardware that has yet to be seen by the mass market. A piece of hardware that is yet to be established. A piece of hardware that is made by a company who has a disgusting track record for producing reliable hardware. That's if you ask me*

On a side note. Nintendo unveils an MP3/Mpeg player for the GBA-SP. Hmmm... This seems like an especially unorthodox, un-financial, un-progressive-economic move for a system that is going to be let go in a year...or two. Hmmm weird move, especially since it's old hardware that is now being replaced by an "upgrade".

some small quibbles

1 the system was officially unvialed at E3, the same time we got to see the DS. yet since then most PsP commentry is heavily opinionated and thats because no one has one. now that its released ppl can see for themselves the truth. hopefully sites will move from opinion to fact and accurate comparisons.

2 im actually correct to call it the PSX since the smaller newer system is refered to as the PsONE like the newer ps2 is called the PSTwo. its all jargon and unimportant really.

3 like i said most of it is true so i dont understand your arguement. some of us remember having to turn our systems upside down just to get games to run. yet we still played and bought more games. the psx finished strong up the release of the PS2. the PSOne\Lcd screene combo sold pretty well in the PS2 era. fact is ppl didnt care. remember having to blow on you nes carts? remember having to press it down over for times before it hold the cartriage at times? or even having to measure just right how much to insert the cart so it would play. ppl still love their NES. so whats your problem?

4 the release of the  SP player seems a logical responce to impending competition. The Psp comes with a Media stick and is fully media compatible.

5 im not defensive. i just love competition. it gives gamers what they want rather than what companies want to sell them. companies who come into a market always tries to give gamers something different. i loved my neo-geo pocket had alot of games that were never even on GBA. i had a game gear once as well sadly it bomb as well. go figure someone will get it right.

i love change and the DS isnt change. its nintendo applying the same formula of remakes and re-releases. it was alomst nice to relive your snes days but many of us didnt have N64 days. yup PSX ruled at that time. look at the ridge racer above. thats the N64 ridge racer  and even back then it was crap. now its repackaged for a new generation. whats sad too is that the ds isnt even abe to match the quality of the N64.

So thast why im excited (as you put it) "about a piece of hardware that has yet to be seen by the mass market. A piece of hardware that is yet to be established. A piece of hardware that is made by a company who has a disgusting track record for producing reliable hardware."

i keep having to apologise to Outlaw but i cant sit here and read stuff like this and stay quiet.

read my post again. About the PSX thing. PSX WAS the codename for the PSOne (as is offically named the previous playstation machine. Since the bigger one has not been in production for about 4 years now.) So the smaller one is no longer refered to as PSX, especially since they release an official piece of hardware which is officially named PSX. It's no biggie, and I do see your point. But it can lead to confusion.
