Updated choices of numbers from 1-8 to 1-30. It's still the same pick 8 though. That is you only have to choose 8 numbers which are between 1 and 30

GASP!
Now the lottery has gone from 100% to win to near 0% possibility to win.

I suggest removing it altogether. Or at least a reasonable choice like say 1 - 10.

30-8=22

its not a 0% chance :)
for every number you get, you get rewarded. so even if is just 1 or 2 that you get, you go win back the money you paid for the ticket at least. its a lottery after all :)

Uh.. I new and doh really understand how this works... but I am seeing where it is displaying the odds of me getting 8/8 numbers stands at 1:5852925 and the jackpot says 200.

Does that mean it's roughly 6 million to one odds against me winning 150 points, at a cost of 50 points per chance? Or does that 200 mean 200 million points?

(By my rough maths it would cost close to 300 million to "win".)

If you'd checked the Winnings page of the Lottery section you'd have noticed the following:
Number Correct | Jackpot
1/8 | 5
2/8 | 10
3/8 | 30
4/8 | 40
5/8 | 70
6/8 | 100
7/8 | 150
8/8 | 200

I got as many as 5/8 once before...

So am I correct that the jackpots are in points, not millions of points? Because spending 300 million points to win 150 pts, seems a little off.

(Or the case of 5/8 would be spend 127k points to win 20 points?)

That's some pretty bad odds.

*sigh*

Try to follow me on this one...

A ticket for the lottery is 10 points...nothing more, nothing less.

If you get 1 out of the 8 numbers correct, you get 5 points...nothing more, nothing less. That means you have made a loss of 5 points (5 - 10 = -5).

If you get 2 out of the 8 numbers correct, you get 10 points...nothing more, nothing less. That means you have made a profit of 0 points (10 - 10 = 0).

If you get 3 out of the 8 numbers correct, you get 30 points...nothing more, nothing less. That means you have made a profit of 20 points (30 - 10 = 20).

If you get 4 out of the 8 numbers correct, you get 40 points...nothing more, nothing less. That means you have made a profit of 30 points (40 - 10 = 30).

If you get 5 out of the 8 numbers correct, you get 70 points...nothing more, nothing less. That means you have made a profit of 60 points (70 - 10 = 60).

If you get 6 out of the 8 numbers correct, you get 100 points...nothing more, nothing less. That means you have made a profit of 90 points (100 - 10 = 90).

If you get 7 out of the 8 numbers correct, you get 150 points...nothing more, nothing less. That means you have made a profit of 140 points (150 - 10 = 140).

If you get 8 out of the 8 numbers correct, you get 200 points...nothing more, nothing less. That means you have made a profit of 190 points (200 - 10 = 190).

I sure hope everyone understands now...

I think everyone understands now....
but the thing is.....the stakes are too high...
the chances of you getting all 8 is nearly impossible
you have 2 get at least 2 of the nos. correct so dat u don't lose an y money..and dat is 2 out of 30(i tink)
i preferred the old lotttery wen evryone entered and their money was pooled(+500) and whoevr won got it all :D

Oh ho, sorry sorry. So it only costs 60 million points to win 190 pts? Oh well that makes it a lot better than the 300 million to win 150 that I had perviously calculated!

Or in the case of the "break even point" (2/8) odds are that you'd have to pay out just over 150 points to be sure that you were going to win the 10 points. Yes that sounds pretty good compared to the figures that I had previously been working with!

I think I'll go out and get me a ticket right now!

Here's my lottery history...it will give you an idea of how easy it is to win:
Lottery ID | Number Correct
52 | 3
51 | 3
48 | 4
47 | 3
46 | 2
45 | 4
44 | 1
41 | 2
39 | 3
38 | 2
37 | 1
31 | 5
29 | 3
23 | 2
22 | 4

You'll notice that of the 15 times that I've played, I only made a loss twice (i.e. only got 1 number correct). 4 times I broke even (got 2 numbers correct). And the rest, I came out on top...

My grand winnings thus far total: 190 points

Nothing significant really...but at least I'm not in the red...

And for the record, yes I do prefer the old lottery where the winnings were pooled...prolly cos I won quite a bit thanks to it :P

You're right in that you do need to get at least 2 correct so as not to lose any points...but you're wrong in that it is 2 out of 30...it's actually 2 out of 8...you choose 8 numbers (or do like me and do quick pick every time) and if at least 2 of your numbers are correct...then nothing lost...and nothing gained...

Czar, I'd be more inclined to trust yuh if the points counter next to yuh name wasnt in the negative millions. ;) Not in the red indeed!

LOL! That's cos I've been fooling around with the Shadow Sprang item in the shop...I tried to steal 5mil from someone and it failed...so it took 10mil from me...only had 1mil and change on hand...hence the negative 8mil and change...

All fixed now...happy? :)
