I want to setup a FTP server...but de port forwarding on the speed stream not workin...what to do what to do???

how you mean it not working?

the speedstream port forwarding works just fine for ftp.

maybe you got a defective unit? send it back to tstt.

what exactly are you doing to setup the port forward?

well i setup de filezilla ftp server on my computer... i set it to listen on port 21...then i set the speedstream modem to forward port 21 to my server 192.168.254.1 and for some reason i can connect to my ftp server from inside my lan...but not from the net...which i want to be able to do...

Did you get someone from outside your network to try it? It looks like it's setup ok to me. Hit me a PM during the day tomorrow and I'll try to help you troubleshoot it. Or you could try me on the IRC as well...would be more convenient.

Something to consider...check the Windows Firewall and make sure it is set to allow traffic through port 21.

are yu trying to connect tot he ftp via the local ip adress of192.168.254.1 (please say no)

or are yu actually using yur external ip to connect?

I really really hope he is using the external ip to try to connect from the outside.

also, YOU CANNOT connect to your own ftp from your external ip within your own LAN.

It just doesn't work that way with this particular setup. You must have someone else test it from outside your LAN.

Yeah, like czar said, make sure your firewall isn't blocking port 21 as well.

i am using the external ip (ip given by tstt... the 200.81.xxx.xxx) and i've asked a good bit of ppl to try an connect...windows firewall is disabled...i have no firewall at all...i dont believe in dem tings.lol

leh me ask a question here unimatrix trying to setup a ftp server... and he can't access it behind his firewall using his internal ip???

i have one up and from inside my lan i use ( ftp 192.168.254.1) enter my username/passwd and i'm in..
and it works in and out (out with my external ip ofcourse)

tell me i'm crazzy or is it that i'm on the wrong page

is that wat he trying to do?

my external ip is lets say 200.123.123.123
and my internal is 192.168.254.1

if i type in that 192.168.254.1 from any machine in my LAN, i get the ftp... if i type in the 200.123.123.123 from down de road yb meh partner i eh gettin in

aye...i have one teenee weenee lil problem... irc for some strange reason not connecting to the irc servers at all...the servers themselves...not the channels

naw the java not workin either...but i feel it have someting to do wit my lan and de internet... cus nuh even wit dial-up it go connect...

de ftp on de other hand i did call tstt and tell dem take de ting off...buh it was already off so i eh kno wah goin on

I wonderin now if TSTT have on the firewall on their side...you should call/email them and tell them to turn that off...

Tho I don't think their firewall would prevent FTP over port 21...but you never know with them nah...

Yeh u have a rel firewall prob.. i used to get the same probs... could not get irc,p2p and thing to work so check TSTT sombody lying tuh yuh...

also did u call TSTT support? i called them told them wat i wanted to do they talk me tru some stuff told me to hold... went to do some sh!t and it was off the next day
