Why is it , that the big companies have to lie to us ? They cleverly structure their mistruths so that no blame can be DIRECTLY aimed at them , but the objective is still reached . For example .

At the release of the 6800s , Nvidia was spreading across the internet, documents comparing SM3.0 and 'not sm3.0' images in facry, it was actually SM 1.1 vs SM2.0 being compared ! Now AMD is trying to make 64 bit gaming look superior to 32 bit, when in fact its the same thing! Why must the companies lie to us in order sell their products?? why can't they spend the money they do in marketing, on IMPROVING THE PRODUCT? sure it brings in more money, but we end up quarelling like idiots over something stupid, like SM3.0 or 64 bit , which may offer extra speed in the future but at present is no faster or better than the currant generations of products .
Lets from now on, not believe anything Nvidia or AMD says.. they seem to enjoy lying to us, Intel and ATi have never done anything like THIS just to get sales , Remember when the rumours floated that the FX series was 30x as fast as the geforce 4s? and that Forceware 50 will triple FX shader performance? we can't trust Nvidia more than we can throw them, from now on, lets just listen to the reviewers who don't take as many bribes

on techinical point amd ain't lie 64 bit cpu with 128 bit register will more accurately produce the math need fro game so technically they ain't lie . the more bit the more accurate the figure the closer it is to what it was meant to be . (the difference is noramlly so minute u can't see the difference with naked eye but their might be some exceptions if u did a comparisson math logging of cpu u would see the difference ).

well nvidia part is true on the hold. But the amd part is false on technical side so they ain't lie but it is very few time u would ever see the added percision

. I remember ati talk the bridge chip are crap only pci-x oure would be faster than the bridge but now it seems so . so that was lie on ati part small but lie and the worst is they go back on their words makeing a bridge chip for themselves

Id lied to us about DIII ultra quality, saying it needed a 512mb card, when 256mb cards play it well [ don't call this spam , its the TRUTH] . Everything is a big scam to make money, money money .

i rememebr 2 month back reading an acticle explaining the GFX race thats ongoing between Nvidia and Ati. after reading it you really feel like a bite up shilling for buying the hype. i mean if nvidia bring out a card ati just over clock a card it have tag a name and send it to the hardware mags. they know damn well it be months before they'd be compelled to produce it but all they want is the hype cause hype sells. ofcourse nvidia isnt as backward as they hype they tech which like trini says cant be tested effectively since nothing uses it.

its called spin. the art of changing ones perspective on something. thas why i say just find what works. if it works use it.

ATi up to now, never developed tata... name one ATI product that failed in the last 5 years? The FX series was a failure for the first 6 months of release, and for the rest of its lifetime it still held second place to Ati .
If Nvidia can put a 6800LE 256mb in my hands for 199 US [ same price as X-700 ] I will go out and buy it! The geforce 6 series is great, but the Price for Performance ratio in the sub- 200 dollar catagory sucks , X-700 non pro and 9800 pro beat up the 150 dollar 6600 bad , and the 6600 GT is only 128mb at 199 .

x700 xt is 128 @ 200
ati wanted to sell them orginally at 250 thankfuly market department saw the error of managment way and changed it

X-700 pro = 256 = Doom III& half life 2 @ ultra = pwnt .

but i'd really like to get my hands on a soft moddable 6800Le /X-800SE 256mb ..... If it doesn't soft mod , i'll take off the fan, dip it in rubbing alcahol/acetone for an hour, when all the lubricant is dissolved, put it back on, and NOISE like hell ... send it back complaining of noise.... get a new one

.... if second time... i destroy the fan with electricity..... etc. etc.

LOL this sounds like someone that never use a ATI ragePRO 16mb. arr i still ahve nightmares from having that card. buggy gaming, drivers never feeling stable, and almost everything felt like it wasnt made for it.

Ati only got good when they moved to the 9xxx series. most ppl agree but there is still too much residual hatred for ati for between deveolpers and gamers to actually buy them or use them. most emus werent ATI friendly till recently also.

now the statement you make was the most buss and fanboy statement i ever heard in a long time. even if ati hands down have the fastest gfx card the masses will still use Nvidia that just what branding will do. its sort of like if adidas release a great new line of shoes. ppl will still buy nike.

as for this concept of price for performance ratio and stuff that fanboys like to use. look most ppl cant afford a $4000tt gfx card but thats what it cost to have the best. thats what they call spin. lets use the same example with cars now you can have a really fast supra or skyline or the regular run of the mill b15 but dont fight down a porche or bmw just cause it more exspensive.sure the price per performance rating would favour the earlier BUT thats not why you buy a BMW or porche. its just about preference cause 5 doubles could full yuh just as much as a subway sandwich.

vinion i think ati only get good after the 9500 yes. the 8500 was good because of the hardware trueform but trueform buss now, lol, so is a waste. 9500 and up oui.

and ati drivers sux, ati linux drivers sux. i think everyone knows this, just reinforcing

. im an ati owner myself, and know many with ati cards and we all complain bout the drivers, weak opengl performance. weak!!!

i meant ATI didn't release any crappy products in the last 4 - 5 years , the Rages are SUCK! The mobile versions don't even support OGL .
But since the Radeon 7000 , ATi hasn't made a product as bad as the FX series ever was .

Ha, amd keep this secret in bios update on the opteron and some early athlon64 set, was able to flash a opteron 150 with a totally different opteron model. Never heard the issue went public, but they truly conceal it.

All marketing in some form or fashion is an exageration of what they have to attrack sales, it would be fools hardy to spend the marketing money on pure R&D, though it may turn out a better product what sense if no one knows about it, take for instance the Centrin0 brand, the processors are great but all u need is to use the CPU, Chipset and wireless solution provided by 1ntel to get the kite sticker. And if not for the Billions spent on pushing the C3ntrino it would not have been as sucessful as it is now. So in short they need to lie a lil
