Yup. Those were the good old days.
Just me, a few tokens in my hand, a working MvC machine, and a pumpernickel loaf.

Oh, come ON.
As if you haven't carried a loaf of bread for luck in an arcade before.

Right now, there's hardly anybody who says they have faced me in that game and didn't get taken for one hell of a ride. Come on, man, get with the times. I'm the New Era Outlaw. Since when did 'lose' and 'MvC2' appear in the same sentence in MY vocabulary? 8)

For the love of God, do NOT do that.
We just had a serious falling out with bAnDit for abusing that 'btw I'm back' line, we don't need two people doing that too. Capiche?

Dark Sakura

To change Sakura into Dark Sakura:
- You need 3 Levels
- Motion a Reverse Dragon Punch with Light Kick.

Note that if you wish to change Dark Sakura back into Regular Sakura, repeat the steps above.

Mecha Zangief

To change Zangief into Mecha Zangief:
- You only need 1 Level.
- Motion a Reverse Dragon Punch with Light Kick.

Rinse and repeat if you want the Big Cheese back. :)

Man, I've been away too long.

Chun Li, fall from grace?  NO WAY!!!!  I can't say much about MvC2 and the other titles of that particular series, but I can attest to what I have seen from tournament footage and personal experience.

With regards to CvS2.
So what if Chun only has five moves.  As long as they're practical, you don't need that many.  In SF 2 Ryu and Ken had 3.  These things are about learning to use what you have to its full potential.
I would have to disagree with most of you in here.  I'd vote Chun for top tier for the following reasons.

1    Great Range
2    Great Recovery
3    Good Speed
4    Easy link combos
5    Pretty easy cancels as well
6    Good Normals (C HK can be used for anti air from proper range for god's sake!!!)
7    Damaging combos (She can punish hard)
8    Can hold her own in almost any groove.  Even A. (I'm giving myself ideas here)
9    Good poking game,  C mk ducks under projectiles like hadouken etc.
10  good supers, Kikosho lv2 can be used for anti air and houyoukyousen (sp) Is for ground punishment and good chip damage for that almost dead foe.

I think rb is more than capable of explaining why Chun is top in SF3.  Nevermind the fact that wong lost to daigo like that.  Daigo was just superior in that instance.

Light slap on the wrist, Imperial.
Don't post just to say 'WTF?', especially after your own post.
Anyway, no worries, I know you're a good camper on the forums. 8)

With regards to your say on Chun-Li, I'd agree.....on the 'if they were practical' part.
In my opinion, her moves are just NOT.
Her fireball is weak and pratically sets you up for a jump kick/Shoryuken combo.
Her spinning bird kick....just....WHY?!
Let's face it. You're practically fighting with a handicap here.
You just have to dig that much harder when fighting as Chun-li in CvS2, because her biggest advantage, the Tornado Kick, is GONE.

Anyway, let's not deviate from the topic at hand here.
This is the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 thread, lest we forget.

Have you ever given consideration to the fact that you may be playing Chun Li wrong?
She is NOT a shoto and should not be played as one.  Doing a KIKOken (not HADOken) from far is signing your own death warrant.  It's meant to be used for chip damage at the end of poke and guard crush strings.  The recovery of this move and startup is good.  If you cancel into this from a normal from proper distance, you would rarely be punished.  The percentage is EXTREMELY LOW and only certain characters have this option.

The same with her spinning bird kick.  Against taller characters in K or P groove you can call yourself god.  Make them block a hk sbk and then land (you recover first) which gives you the following options.

1)  Rip out a lv2 or higher to counter the possible baited retaliation for serious damage
2)  Go for a guard crush and follow up with a string like c lp x 2, s (close) hp x spinning bird kick.  This further frustrates  your opponent if they haven't alpha countered or counter movement their way out of this trap.  If they block the second sbk you reset the entire mind game.

Chun has good ranged pokes.  These are NORMALS.  C mp is good as well as c hk.  This is where Chun Li shines.  Her normals are the key to her success.

This is something that will prove invaluable to any SF player.  No normals, no game.  Know normals, KNOW GAME!!!!

By chance have any of you more veteran mvc2 players seen any semi decent magneto or storm players locally and also what is your opinion of mags in general and how do you think local players aside from those seen above (if any at all) would use him.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I have seen some formidable Magneto and Storm players about the place. Magneto isn't too shabby as a character, really. But, to tell you the truth of it all, he's simply overpowered. Here is a guy, with enough practice, can juggle you from now until Groundhog's Day with Magnetic Tempest chains, and also possesses priority on several of his moves. Lest we forget, he's also a master at taking advantage of the triangle jump as well.

And basically, with regards to that last statement, that's the sheer basis of people's strategy with him. Usually, they use Psylocke or Cable to provide backup, and use the distraction to go behind the hapless opponent with Magneto and pummel them with combos, depending on how they block the move. A high block usually sees Magneto tapping them with a crouching LK, while a crouching block has Magneto tack them up with mid-air kicks.
From there, it's aerial rave city. Population: YOU.
Occassionally, though, people would use Magnetic Shockwave to punish people who are either caught doing a move in mid air, got caught by Magneto's slide, or stunned by a move like Cable's Viper Beam. E.M. Disruptor, though not a very popular move, is occassionally used to push people back.

If anything, Magneto players would sometimes wait for you to jump towards them, all the while making Magneto look as if he's going to zap several ants with a magnifying glass. Then, as they close in...WHAM. A crouching Fierce sets them up for some serious hurt. that move can send you up in the air pretty effectively, as it possesses some decent range. Sometimes, Magneto players tempt you to jump over to their side (usually, by using Sentinel Force).

So that, in a nutshell is how Magneto players (at least those that I have seen) play with him effectively. Magneto is a pretty decent character, it's just that not just ANYBODY can pick him up and play him. Believe it or not, several of those combos take skill to pull off, not to mention an impeccable sense of timing as well.
But, that's just me.
Maybe somebody else could shed a little light here?

Believe me, Tempest Chains are the best way to go with Magneto, but be warned that they are EXTREMELY hard to pull off in competitive play. Other than that, you should stick with triangle jumps and aerial raves for now.

i hardly ever played the game it lacks that "real" feeling that i get from MVC1
do i guess ive always stuck with them

you asked me about my Warmachines the other day.....

they are just representing my inner child ..

but seriously i think i'll have to learn this one to be a challenge to you as you are to me...
