they are actually quite on par
do your research on the chidori, a little point of fact, naruto would almost never be able to pull off the chidori, mainly cause it requires such a complex seal, plus immense chakura concentration, both of which naruto sucks at.

but the real question in the rasengan vs chidori, is actually
naruto vs sasuke

and in this case, the skill of the ninja is much more important than merely the jutsu being used.

and its painfully obvious who is the more skilled ninja
sharingan + speed+ chidori= one pwned little naruto

we are discussing it because its happening in the manga in the latest chapter. if you read shinsagat's post you would have realized that.

i think that they would be about even, (for the story)
but we know how the rasengan works because naruto's training detailed it, but its not clear what makes the chidori really tick.(kakashi has only explained it in simplistic terms)
honestly i think its a bit like apples and oranges, each one is for something different.

rasengan vs chidori does not boil down to naruto vs sasuke unless we talking the fight in the manga because other people use it

rasengan requires agreat deal of chrakra control
anyone can learn three seals but im betting taking ones chrackra and creating a control typhoon in your hand by creating several differnt tornadoes of energy in different dircertions while maintaining shape
ie thats why its a A rank difficulty jutsu
they never said what rank chidori was ....
also naruto does have a lot of chrakra control now
before he didnt know how use his chakra but was still on par with sasuke
the tree race showed us that
then oros seal was screwing him up through the whole chunin exam and gaara fight which he still won

plus the chidori is already at its max so to speak
naruto only know three of EIGHT steps too rasengan
and the third alone proved to be much stronger than sasukes chidori ie the water tank incident and the only way it will be a draw in th manga is becuase sasike have de seal pumpimg him up to super sasuke  

also the sharingan has nothing to do with this move match up yoyr just sounding very sasuke biased

for one, the chidori is not three seals, its a combination of 12. ass
and seals are very difficult to master

but sasuke dont have naruto determination, and the will to never give up. if it was sasuke fighting gaara dey, sasuke woulda be dead long time. luckily for sasuke , naruto jump in and save he stupid mc. chidori can only be used twice by sasuke, if he use curse, he might make 3. where as rasengan can be used more than twice . naruto also have great stamina, he can wear sasuke out
