Where can I begin

My original screen name was Samanosuke (after the onimusha guy).But I changed it to Bob because

A) Nobody cud pronounce or spell samanosuke properly

Bob is Hwoarang's pet name on the Tekkenzaibatsu forums (guess who my fav character is in tekken)

Everyone saw my favoritism towards hwoarang and started calling me Bob and the name stuck.

Ironically people started calling Hwoarang, Bob because they cudden spell or pronounce his name either.

I've been using w1ntry or wintry for a LONG time. I used to use it on MSN and thus when I came to GATT I kept it, but seeing as gamers tend to replace letters and such I thought well W1nTry would be more appropriate.

Yup. I'll try to look for the old 'How did you get your GATT name?' thread and sticky it.
Probably not here, though, seeing as how we have too many stickies.


EDIT: Looking back, I realised that those old threads only talked about how we joined GATT, not really on the origin of our names. However, I could be wrong, because I do remember a thread where some of us talked about why we call ourselves so-and-so. And, if that's the case, damn, is it hard to find.

So, I'll start with a quote from that very same page.

Hmm....very intriguing thread.
Well, before I was initiated into Shadow Skill, I went by the arcade name 'NEO', in the Consort Mall arcade. I used to sign by my initials, 'RJR', but, after seeing the Matrix, I decided to pay homage to Neo by signing my name as such, to indicate that I was 'the One', when it came to games like Marvel vs. Capcom.

When I was about to be initiated into Shadow Skill, my fellow SS member Kaz told me that 'Neo' was already taken by somebody else, and that I had to come up with a new GATT name. I thought about it for a bit, and then told him 'No problem. Just call me the New Era Outlaw.' As you can see, it's a little acronym that I devised for myself. Now, not only do I have a snazzy GATT name that I can call my own, but in a sense, I also retain my old alias (My GATT name is also lengthy, so people call me 'NEO' for short.)

While it originated as nothing more than as a clever acronym for 'NEO', I soon developed it as something much more. As you can tell from my art, I've turned the New Era Outlaw into a character all on his own. I've also strived to separate the 'New Era Outlaw' from the Matrix 'Neo', to give myself some form of individuality....what can I say, you sort of grow away from these things after a while.

Q - Quicksilver

I was one of the first, if not the first, to consistently play KI2 on Ultra speed in the arcade. Not once in a while... CONSISTENTLY, and still perform like a maniac, infinite Ultra included (I think I still have the arcade record for that). My player of choice was Fulgore and I use to pick him in a kinda darkish, dull chrome. It's the colour right after the yellow-eyed Fulgore.

So, Ultra speed + Darkish chrome = Quick Silver. I just use to sign "Q" and ppl left it at that; The "Q" stuck. Now I even use it as my pen name in poetry and as my nickname when I did Kung Fu (Shui Yin).

I tried a whole string of things and they were already taken, and couldn't come up with an original name so I picked my favorite Naruto character. 500+ posts down the road, I'm still wondering if I can change it. Admins?
