Well if you LOVE the series you will love this game....but for the rest of us it would be a normal shooter with exceptional graphics...kinda like farcry when the monsters come

 it will RUN on a geforce 256/radeon 7500 but Id recommends a Geforce 4mx as bare minimum , a Geforce 4 TI,FX 5600,5700/9500,9600,8500  is recommended.

I'm surprised it would be allowed to run on a GF4mx...

That game i would more expect to take a GF4-Ti or higher...or any of the newer Radeons

actually the Geforce 4 MX will run the game ALOT faster than the Geforce 4 TI or Radeon 8500/9500/9600 , but it will be like playing FarCry with a Geforce 2 , you will be missing ALOT of details that the newer cards will have  and so the 'full experience' will not be yours , the thing that seperates Doom III from previous games are the extreme use of shadows and bump mapping /pixel shading, with a Geforce MX  there IS  no bump mapping or pixel shading, and since the models are already rather low poly  you will be able to cruise around at 1600x1200 with a smooth frame rate.

the logic behind it is.... the MX has no pixel and vertrex shaders, and no bump mapping THEREFORE it will have to play the game WITHOUT them , and since the pixel shading and bump mapping in DIII is SO intensive playing the game WITHOUT them will result in a HUGE improvement in speed. I'v done it in the alpha, it makes the game look like crap but u can get HUNDREDS of FPS.

Games of Doom III and Half-life II are meant to be played on high resolutions with as much bells and whistles as possible why would anyone turn all of it off just to play it FAST??? dread if yuh cyah play it don't
