are u sure u mean ripping ? dvdxcopy is used to copy dvds.

Just get DVD Decrypter -> www.dvddecrypter.com

Excellent little app for decrypting DVD's to your hard drive, writing them to blank DVD's etc

And best of all, it's free!

I use DVD Shrink. Its an excelent program does the compression for your dual layer cds and its FREE!!!!!!!!!!

in my opinion virtual dub (mpeg2 modified edition) and smart ripper is all u need

there is a program at sourceforge.net DVDx they highly recommend it but i havent tried it out yet
