its not necassary to upgrade NOW...... DX8 has pixel shaders, bump mapping etc. like 9. of course if someone hands you a 100% working 5950 ultra for 100 tt DON'T SAY NO!

the extra IQ dx9 brings isn't much.... its barely noticable unless you STARE at the game for 5 minutes .

wait till next year if you have a Dx8 card NOW. overclock and tweak till then, ATi should have Shader 3.0 cards out then, and the X-800 pro/6800GT you are drooling at right now will be alot cheaper. And by then, there should also be a new line of 'budget' cards .... since it is customary to bring them in several months after the flagship models. maybe a 6600 ulta?

i am dropping this argument right now because the last few posts come from people who either don't understand what is going on here.... or haven't read the thread properly.

I am not saying DO NOT INSTALL direct X 9.0c

i am saying DO NOT BUY a dx9 card NOW if you have a capable DX8 card.

why people keep mentioning software than not final yet direct x 9.0c ain't out until that out there is no proper support of ps 3.0 after it comes out u might see a difference

The Geforce 4s are faster than the 8500 and the TI 500 is just a little bit slower. Perfectly alright for all the games right now, even doom III should run at a nice smooth 30 something fps under a little stress. The 8500 has JUST DX8.1, and its IQ still is more than acceptable

rite now try to get alot of CPU power and RAM , next year whatever card you get will need it.

I still don't understand why you'll want to play the game at 30fps. Why run it at 30fps when it's meant to be played in all it's glory at 60fps? I can never be comfortable playing at 30fps, but then again you're trini so it's understood
