you probably logged in as yourself and not as root when you did the install.

Hey Dev,

You lose a lot of the advanages of Mandrake if you use
tarballs to install software (you need to do manual
dependency checking, and packages that depend on the
installed package can't tell that it's there).

So assuming you are using the mozilla 1.7 rpm it
should be as simple as doing as root

rpm -Uvh a.rpm b.rpm c.rpm

I think you will meed the mozilla, libnss3 and
libnspr4 rpm packages for mandrake. One place to get
them is here (cooker development builds mirror)
ftp://ftp.surfnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/M...ake/RPMS.cooker

-Ravi

PS For Mandrake 10 official you could also use urpmi
to add the necessary cooker source and then just do
"urpmi mozilla", but I don't have details on that.

Why not just use
apt get
or better yet,
urpmiQoute from Google groups: "You can simply use your Mandrake discs for
install sources of course, but
a much better way is to go to:

http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php

and follow the easy instructions to setup urpmi with all the sources you
need.  Then to install something instead of typing:

apt-get mozilla

just type:

urpmi mozilla  (or urpmi -v mozilla for verbose output, which I prefer)

It will go get the latest rpm that will work with your Mandrake version
along with any other packages necessary to satisfy dependencies, install
everything and you're set, just like apt-get.  If for some reason it
can't do the install, it tells you why.  It's very good, but like
apt-get of course not 100% perfect."> >
