 ATi  has something based off .11 nm process in the pipe... possibly a new budget card? or will we see the R500 early?

 either way it will be cheaper , cooler and higher clockable.

it should give us 9600 pro/XT performance for less than 100 USD.

.09 nm cards are planned for early next year/late this year...... ATi probably the high end Shader 3.0 card to battle the Geforce 6 series....

 as i said before, ATi is the pioneering one, nvidia just picks up the techology after, like Intel and AMD , intel is years ahead of AMD when it comes to technology

it has been confirmed that the X-300 will be twice as fast as the 9200, which is even FASTER than the 9600 pro, and possibly the 9600xt.... but...

 PCI-X only!!! NOOO!!!!

1) R300=Radeon 9700 series

2) 9200 is slower than any 9600 and even your 8500

.... too much headache to address the amd/intel nvidia/ati 'years ahead' bits

the chip is the R360, the card is called the X-300... bloody fast for less than 100US. PCI-X only.

 The X-300SE would probably be faster than the 9600se.. the x-300 plain as fast as the 9600 pro

The R360 is the core for the Radeon 9800XT

The X300 series is going to be based on the RV370 core

Performance wise - we'll just have to wait and see eh? Wont be too long now

ATI is planning to use BACKWARDS bridge chips, turning PCI-x cards into AGP again... so those of us who don't want to have a nu system can keep up wit grafix for awhile to come.... though they may be more expensive than PCI-x because of the extra production cost, and a little slower ...

 X-600 performance is dissapointing..... but ATi somehow managed to get a siginificant increase in performance without  much of an increase in stats... still 4 pipe... still 128 bit memory controller..... still around 12gb/s memory bandwidth...

 But it is good for ATi and its partners as it won't cost them more to make it than a 9600xt, and they probably can use some 9600xt components as well eg. memory chips, power capacitors , heatsinks [they ones on the samples Firing squad has look identical to the ones used on some 9600s before ]etc.

there is an X-800SE planned, for around 299 USD, it will have a 128bit memory controller  and  8 pipes ,hopefully will be able to overclock/mod to something better.

 it may be another FX like wait till the performance level is significantly higher than that of the previous cards... well at least they are not slower than the cards before them.

the X-600 is larger, possibly because of more ram/ higher power requirements.... the cores are possibly quite similar.. with just a mod to the X-600 to give it pci-x support, and higher clocks..., the memory chips and capacitors look the same... quite possibly just a new 9600 card on steroids
