Half Life 2 Release date...

Well I found out via G4 techtv (pulse) that the release date announced by valve for half life 2 was early in September 2004...Now I only hope that this is just not another empty promise.

maybe...also i am sure if yuh computer has 256mb ram 1.6ghz processor and a radeon 8500 it would run half life 2...jus not smoothly

actually....

an 8500 and 1.6GHZ will play HL2 just fine, with a a little tweaking

like my 8500 and 850mhz plays unreal II just fine , just go into the game's folder and open up the notepads, and play around with the settings till u get more speeed

9600se is about 70% the power of an 8500 and it gets 22fps in the ALPHA.... though with a 3ghz P4.. the game only needs 256mb of ram, and even if u don't have the processing power it will not hamper your actualy fps much, just u wouldn't be able to get all the advanced physics and shadows.

I actually doubt they'll delay the game again. I think Vavle was actually waiting for ID to announce a release date for D3 and then they'll announce theirs. The only way it'll be delayed again would be if ID delays D3. If Valve chooses to go the idiotic root and delays again, then they'll most definitely lose most of the hype that they had before.

I was actually expecting this release date the same week when they started announcing a release date of D3. That's basically Valve's plan, they want to battle ID for top spot. Not like we actually care, since we'll obviously be getting both.

i doubt that.. Valve IS waiting for the DIII release date, and they plan to release HL2 waay after .... it may turn out to be another unreal tournament/quake III scenario, both games released the same time and people have to choose, less sales for both.

 We will not have to worry about lag, bugs and all that when HL2 is out... they had enough time to make 2 games already.

You're right trini. They're gonna release HL2 long after DIII because August 2004 is soooo far from September 2004. I honestly don't know how I came up with that theory.

Half Life is much better than Doom....trust me i have played both on my system..Doom sticks because of my video card...but half life runs suprisingly smooth
and doom is not as good for all dis hipe...half life is doh...when HL releases i going pick this up original (and for me to pick up i game original it had to be damn good...like COD)

if your talking about doom II it will stick because it was not very well coded...

Doom III alpha plays fine on an 8500/9000 IF u got a 2ghz + processor and like 1GB of ram.. u can get 60+ fps on a geforce 2/geforce 4MX because neither have pixel shaders or bump mapping.. so all they will be doing is raw T&L and polygons.. and they will be moving faaast

half life is 6 years old.. of COURSE it would play nice and smooth..

your vid card is okay... most vid cards now that support DX7 and 8 will be able to play all games well into 2005.. what everyone needs now is more CPU power... at least 2ghz to keep up with the newer games

i think they had a sp 2004 release date in mind in the first place... but did this entire thing to increase the popularity of THE  GAME .....

 even if it IS total crap.. right now it is more popular than ETM.. and hundreds of thousands of people have already pre ordered it... valve and vivendi are set for a few years well.

ETM had more bugs than ME and XP home combined... DODGING? why bother? if the bullet is 1 foot away it will damage you anyhow... graffixx?
 lags like hell on anything less than lowest settings..
Gameplay? too laggy and buggy to enjoy.
