it will increase the speed by like 5%... its like 450 for one on the net ...

alyuh SERIOUSLY overrating the 9600SE.. yes its a good upgrade from a INTEG .. but not for the pcs in euro.

i'd think baego should wait awhile and get a big shipment of 9600 pros when they go below 100 US

well some geforce 4s are Sh!t .. classic nvidia products.. some reeaaal fass.. some reeaaaal slow.. i'v used the pcs at euro and they are fine.. most of the lag at euro is cause you guys push the settings up waaaay to high. and one one guy lags... everone lags..

even if  it was like a 20% increase in performance... why would baego spend so much money just for a tiny speed up like that?...

if baego could find a stock of radeon 8500s for like 600 it would be worth it...  the 8500 128mb is as fast as the TI 4600 with nu drivers, they are like 40% faster than the 9600se.

good advice trini.

We have been upgrading though Tupac, lol....and doing maintenance that over runs the costs you outline there.

All the game machines have been upgraded to 512MB RAM in the past 3 months. The dragon machines have Geforce4 TI 4200s. (That's the ones outside with the black monitors, keyboards and mice)
Not to mention we been replacing powersupplies, cpu fans, video card fans and motherboards. Been costing a pretty penny too.

We will continue to upgrade, fear not.

i actually prefer to inhale paint fumes and rubbin alcahol...

the problem with the 8500 series was.. that ATi did not change the model name, but they had alot of different cards with the same name...

The 8500 is not FASTER than the ti 4600, but it is COMPARABLE... with the newer drives it can come close, but never match it... and the 8500 is prefferable to the geforce 4 because it uses ALOT less cpu power. And if you can clock an 8500 to 325mhz it WILL beat the ti4600.... but that requires alot of flashing etc..

the pcs at euro are just fine.... just people like to run raven shield and COD at 1296x1024 with everything on and expect good fps all the time.. and when one person lags.. the server slows down to accomadate them.. lagging EVERYONE.

Guys find a good rehab for TrinithereturnofGamez please.......Time to get off whatever !!!!!!!!!!

The 8500 WAS one of the best cards ever made, it has the same pipe specs as the Ti series 4x2,
the only Ati card like that,,,,,,, and I Know Trini has one in his RIG.

http://users.erols.com/chare/video.htm

Come on Trini its time for an upgrade instead of flashing and hoping and Nvidia bashing.

Benchmarks are a guide only but check these

http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031...tournament_2003

Now the only good thing about a 8500 today is its price and not it's cpu usage and in this case I would get a Ti 4200 anyday.

Chalk and Cheese cannot be COMPARABLE lol

I chose the 8500 because of its fairly low cpu usage for my PIII 850mhz:
my P III + 8500 gets 7000 3d marks, a P4 with the same card gets just a bit more than 9000

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/gf4int...aling/page2.asp

 a geforce 4 on a the older, less intensive 3dmark gets 5000 on a piii 700...

@defcon... specs don't mean nutting... in fact.. don't EVER look at specs to find out the speed of something... different companies measure specs differently [ eg. theoretical fil rate instead of real world fill rate, theoretical memory bandwitdth instead of proven ] spec wise the pentiums own the athlon64s.. spec wise a 5800 ownz the 9700.. but we all know that in reality the opposite is true
the radeon 8500s THEORETICAL memory bandwidth is 12gb/s for the LE and 16 gb/s for the 8500 pro . Nvidia measures most of its cards by theoretical memory bandwidth..
its not meant to prove a point.. just meant for you to learn something.. take no offense.

Ok now i understand, TrinithereturnofGamez your statements are to general though. Your PIII
system is the key to your info....... The MX 460 looks like the best card in the line up......... Do you have benchmarks for the 8500 ?

Your system is even holding back your 8500.

I have a friend with one, he bought it when it first came out and is only now upgrading ...on his P4 2.4......... As he upgraded his processor he kept the 8500 going......sadly its time now.

He gets close to 9000 3dmark 2001SE.

Time for a whole new system dude.
