The New PSP and Nintendo DS!
« on: July 26, 2004, 10:14:10 PM »
Like we all heard by now the new systems the Nintendo DS and PSP are coming!!!!! DS-Duel Screen, PSP-Playstation Portable. Yes the future of portible gaming has nearly arrived. Also the future of protible DVD and Music CD player are also features of the new systems. The Nintendo DS is original with a duel screen system which can prove useful in certain games. For example a shooting game where one screens displays a map and the other the game itself. However 1 screen is completely 2D and the other based on the game 3D or 2D. Then ofcourse is the PSP a long awaited system expected to bring out some hits like Grand Turismo 4 and Metal Gear Solid. This system is basically like the GBA where it has one screen and the buttons at the side but do not get me wrong it has the accustom controls like the PS2 except for the 4 buttons on top instead it only has 2. Well this topic is for any views and news on the two new systems to be released and if you want the N-Gage that Nokia released (still has a lot of problems). Here is some pictures for your enjoyment.

Judging from those pics of the DS, which I'm sure is concept art, it'll be huge. Also, the directional pad and action buttons are placed in a very uncomfortable/uncontrolable position.

I really really doubt that's the final design of the DS, but as it is right now I can tell I won't be purchasing one of those. I'm really contemplating on purchasing a PSP, since the games and the handheld look a lot more intriguing.

the PSPs hardware is on par with the PS2 and therefore will be able to play any title available for PS2 .
333 mhz processor
32mb RAM
similar multi-pass graphics processor
will play DVDs and probably PS2 games..

the DS is on par with... the N64 .....  but has longer battery life and  i2 LCD screens, not to mention CHEAPER.

2 processors @ 67mhz/33mhz , 4mb RAM , catridge format again!

return of cartridge!!! bawwwww

but alas, lol its not true cartridge
inise the cartridge is nintendos proprietary gdvds but they will use the single edge copper/gold bus yay that makes cartridges kicks rass

but anyway, the ds is revolutionary dual screen, one for strategic game info, and one for game play
so that in rpgs and stuff u dont need to open the item menu right on yur game
yu do all that from the second window

yyeaaaah  man, Nintendo should  take the DS and turn it into  something that can play Gamecube games!  and be backward compatible with older GB games. , just turning all the chips in the gamecube onto a tiny process like  .09 instead of the .15 nm its built on it should be able to eat battery power and be able to play for a few hours . [ lots and lots of batteries though ]

The design has been finalised:

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/

Quote from this article --> http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articl...17-ab1dc6fab277
Quote
Software companies worldwide have more than 120 Nintendo DS games in development. Nintendo alone is developing more than 20 titles, and in excess of 100 companies have signed on to create games for the new system.

Interesting that they've got so many developers to buy into it already...good for them. PSP might still give it a good run for the money tho...time will tell.
