wrong

No dracula ever looked as dread as the Dracula in Vanhelsing

No Werewolf ever looked as dread as the werewolf in Vanhelsing. (Even the first one they tried to catch was extra dread....I was like...my word!!!, then when I saw the last one, 2 times badder!!)

No harpee has ever looked as dread (didn't know dracula wives were harpees...must be falling behind on my fiction)

No Frankenstein ever looked as dread.

By portrayal, I refer to the graphical display, the pace, the fluid movement, mannerism of the monsters, not the acting.

I gather from your post, that you talking about the personality and the actors. Not I. CGI iymc.

A dreader Frankenstein, in looks, movements, mannerism and acting. All the feats of strength, everything.

Quote
I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine. A rage, the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satify the one, I will indulge the other.

Yuh right about one thing though...the special effects were great.

But if yuh talking about "dread" as in scary, they fail, except for the werewolf probably.

Dread is when this fella turn into a pile of rats and all of them scurry away in different directions. THAT is a scary, dread Dracula.

As for a dread Van Helsing...this scene speaks for itself.

No setta floaty-dancy-swinginess required. Just murderous intent and a righteous swing. Yuh know...like a "man's man".

I guess we just looking for and expecting different things. I was looking for portrayals that were true to the nature of the characters. It's easy to combine CGI with good acting...look at Hulk and Gollum.

Instead I got a mindless monster mash best fit for the kiddies.

It was enjoyable at parts, but overall it was poor...forgettable.

i am not going cinema to see this, and i agree on most points, but since when is it FARMing easy to do what andy serkis and the team that did gollums effects 'easy'? that just cheapens their whole effort.

i am sure gollum would have words for you.

and its pronounced "franken-shteen".

My bad...it's possible. :P

And if you want to see the movie at all, go see it in the cinema...preferably Globe.

As weak as the story and characterisation is, it's an entertaining spectacle to see on a big screen with LOUD surround sound.
