i can give a little educated info to this topic

of the commonwealth caribbean we are one of the 3 countries that do not recognise Queen Elizabeth II as our queen
we have a vision.... 2020...
ie. to be a 1st world country by this time
the vision is a good one
maybe the means and the ways of acieveing this is not up to par
however, it has to start with a vision
the working out part of it will take some time
and as with everything else we have to wait and see
give them a lil pressure to perform
and ensure they do their job

vision 2020 is PROPOGANDA... i can't beleive you have not seen through it.

 the things that must be set in place in order to reach 1st world status have not been discussed AT ALL.


building more big factories will not help..  many of our people are not trained enough to get jobs in them.

building more schools will not help much, the education system is still retarded, lots of the children are dumb and wild.

what the government SHOULD DO is ENFORCE THE DAMNED LAWS AND MAKE LAWS THAT ARE SENSIBLE.... many of the 1st world governments got there not by BUILDING the factories themselves... but by ENFORCING LAWS so that the crime rate is low, the would be criminals get themselves educated.. and some foriegn company looks at country X and thinks it is productive and profitable... sets up factories... trains the people FOR FREE.. and employs them.

trinidad has a HORRIBLE reputation abroad... do you know HOW MANY criminals get to the US and canada and make us look bad? people who come to trinidad and get robbed will go back and tell their friends... some of whom will put up bad things about trinidad on websites and forums and thousands of people will see... and think bad things about us.. its a chain reaction.

 we are lucky that many people in the US couldn't care less .. if not we would be getting ALOT less foreign investment..
  corruption is not a major problem... the problem is that the government is corrupt and LAZY... as i said before.. at least the retarded governments in other countries pay QUALIFIED people to do their job for them.. and stuff gets done..

 jamaica is just as bad.. and probably worse than us, but they keep their tourists in resorts.. on patrolled beaches and have gaurds at all the tourist sites.. that way no one can get robbed  unless the tourists are dumb enough to go onto the normal roads...

Truth be told I actually preferred the pervious government due to the fact that I actually saw things being done to improve the standard of living in this country. I haven't and I'm still waiting to see that with the current government. The only thing holding back the PNM is a strong leader because the current leader is a waste of time and money. The "they teif money line" that they labelled the UNC is played out because with all the money they stole we surprisingly got so much in return.  I'm not a lifetime supporter of any party because I listen to both sides and analyze the various points and whoever presents the best case will get my vote, both parties have been in office now, so my vote in the next election is clear. The "PNM til' ah dead" people are basically delusional because they give the PNM credit for giving us independence which was under the reign of Dr. Eric Williams who is no longer the leader of the PNM, nor will he be able to be the leader of the party again. We have to get past Eric Williams and look at who is the current leader of the party and what he has done to put Trinidad on the map, and as far as I can see, absolutely nothing.

 seeing that it is illegal for me to vote.. drive... drink alcahol.. smoke... and that i still have to sit CXC....

  its not like a 14 year old will lead an army to storm the red house.. or gain mass support among the population and have them do it for me..

 
and by the time i turn 18 it will be time for more elections...

the purpose of voting is to make the people feel that they have some control over their future, it gives them a sense of pride and achievement.

the purpose of a government is to try and do their best to serve the people while stealing as much money as possible

the purpose of a president is so that we can be called a republic
