i'm thinking of the future.

my brother has DDR 333 and he is upgrading soon and will give me some ram, DDR does not like mixed speeds AT ALL.

agp 8x = nuwer video cards  when they come into my price range

maybe i will pull back the CPU..  though i'm afraid i will get a thouroughbred A, which from my friends experience with 2 different mobos and 3 different chips , = windows ME  ,  all the  2400s  are Tbred B.

i'll probably stick with the 20 GB i have and wait to get a nu HD.

You and me both yuhmc. D only ting in my system dat seriously needed updating was my video card from a 16mb Rage 128 to a R9600. trini wait until next year like me jed and have d baddest system in yuh area for about ah year and ah half. :P Doh run out and buy no new system especially now when businesses just trying to gain as much cash as possible from depserate people, only to release the really new ish a few months/weeks later. Then yuh go be real vex when yuh cudda be real happy if yuh did just wait.

Not talking about that. Talkin about PCIX supported motherboards and video cards and so on. If you wait u can just get that and wouldn't have to study well yuh just build this system and the new ish comin out later this year and early next year. Dealin with what yuh have right now wouldn't kill yuh before the year end, and yuh will be very satisfied knowing you are one of the first to have d latest instead of the most common. Also if yuh wait and build the next gen system yuh know for sure yuh system cud play HL2 when it come out next year no matter what the specs.

it don't even have a network card....

i does lag playing raven shield with the latest patch baaad.

when a big fight going in in halo it does laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag

it does lag to PRINT

microsoft WORD does slow down de system if it running.

be realistic : PCX will only mean at best 10% performance over agp 8x, and it will only reach that in the next 2-3 PCX card releases.

it is just a  scheme to get people to upgrade their mobos.. and probably CPUS in order to get better video cards...

there has been nothing new in video card technology for a long time, there have been improvements, but what a game can do with the latest and greatest DX9C card, it can do with a DX8 card [ but slower, a bit pixel shader detail ]

an also rumour has it that TSTT's modems are limiting DSL bandwidth, with the netword adaptor on the nu mobo , no bandwidth limit...

Network cards cheap jed. $60+

We have the same specs except for the video card(Radeon 9600) and I just got another 20G hard drive, but I don't experience any lag in Halo unless you turn on specular and that causes lag on every system no matter what the specs, and I haven't played Raven Shield yet so I can't say if it lags or not. Basically jed this machine pushing anything, even FarCry runs perfect.

That is why I not running out and buy a new one yet. Even though some games call for 1Ghz min., I notice that this system still running the games with ease and I have all the settings maxed and AA + Anisotropic filtering on as well. The only thing with AA and AF is sometimes the games have problems with it so I turn it off, but otherwise it runs perfectly with everything on.

But if you're head strong on upgrading then go ahead, but I can tell you it really isn't necessary yet.

actually  specular doesn't lag me in halo [www.omegacorner.com , guy takes drivers and modifies them, less bugs,,, faaaaassss]  but in ANY battle with more than 5 enemies it starts to slow down, when i playin farcry  and i hit a barrel wit machete , de ENTIRE  GAME WILL FREEZE FOR 4 SECONDS UNTIL DE CPU CALCULATE DE PHYSICS . I should be able to play farcry on medium to high settings with the video card ,but on any setting but the highest i cannot get more than 20 fps ANYWHERE .

i defragment once a week, scandisk, diskcleanup etc.....
